Iva,
I shall be looking out for you. I assume that you'll be the one in the string vest, stained with the blood of your latest prostitute victim and carrying the bottle of "driver Tizer"?
Be sure to wear a cravat though.....
My stained vest will be in the wash luckily....for everybody.I shall be looking out for you. I assume that you'll be the one in the string vest, stained with the blood of your latest prostitute victim and carrying the bottle of "driver Tizer"?

I'll be the one in the balaclava to cover up my full face tattoo.
I will be 'smart' in any common, modern sense of the word, in fact I will be wearing exactly what I wear when photographing a wedding. That won't be entirely practical if the weather is poor, but never mind.
I don't meet the very strict criteria in the site FAQ though, since being very, very poorly a few years ago I get extremely hot even on the coldest days, anything restricting my neck (tie, cravat) is simply not an option if I want to be vaguely comfortable.
I love Motorsport, I won't be wearing trainers, shorts or jeans or a Ferrari t-shirt (I normally wear shorts all year round due to the aforementioned), I've paid £130 for a ticket, yet somehow that doesn't seem to be enough?

It's not like there are going to be attire police there; the dress code is just something to set the tone, but if you can't or won't follow it then it's no big deal. It does make me a bit sad at the Revival to see puffer jacket/jeans/baseball caps/walking shoes type garb. Yes it's far more practical if you're planning on spending all day outdoors, but that's not exactly the point...
[rant mode]What peeves me more at the Revival is the wearing of service dress. If you must do it then:
Wear appropriate footwear. Polished.
If the rig requires a tie, wear it. With your collar buttoned.
Headdress. Ditto. But not indoors.
Jackets/tunics. Worn buttoned or not at all. Flapping undone and open is not acceptable.
Medals. If not awarded to you, DO NOT WEAR THEM. [\end rant mode]

I'd disagree with the medals (although generally speaking they will just be medal ribbons) but at an event like the revival I don't think anyone will be assuming they are yours. Wear appropriate footwear. Polished.

However the amount of people you see with an officer tunic and a junior ranks hat is crazy also the majority of uniforms have the queens crown rather than the Kings on the buttons.
But that's an argument for another day on the clothing of the revival. The best dressed are always the German/Italian police gents. Simply superb although I don't think you'd have seen them at Goodwood in the 50's but I think it's better seeing well presented people than people in jeans and a mclaren hat (on another note FOS I see so many his and hers in mclaren t-shirts and hats. Just why??)
Anyway shall we get back onto motoring issues and what we are looking forward to?
For me seeing so many F1 GTRs will be amazing along with seeing some type 35 bugattis racing again, last years 1 make race was brilliant so it's nice to see they're still able to participate in a different race.
Toad didn't go last year but will be this. As I will be lucky enough to be getting some form of complimentary ticket but I'm pretty sure food won't be included, what should I be budgeting for?
I mean its Goodwood, so as usual it will be a second mortgage for a cup of coffee and a bacon sandwich but the website is going on about "gourmet dishes in the Great Hall". Do I need to sell a kidney before next weekend?
Just to be in the same place as all of those lovely F1s and 70's Formula One will be wonderful though, even I can't process urine afterwards.

Toad, the food is the usual Goodwood stuff, I don't recollect it being overly expensive last year nor was it exceptionally special. The Great Hall was heaving and we skipped that to eat from one of the stalls. The Saturday evening entertainment was well worthwhile staying on for. Be honest though, one doesn't go to Goodwood and ask what to budget just stick some cash in your wallet and spend what you want to.

Thanks Rich, good to know there is still a slightly cheaper option.Unfortunately poor old Toad is literally that these days. I'm not kidding when I say I need to budget very carefully for an event like this or things will become tricky for me until the end of the month.
Not looking for any kind of sympathy because most of the reasons for this are my own stupid fault & there are lot of people on here a lot worse off than me (just look at of the cancer or illness threads. ), just stating how things are for me at the moment & have been for awhile.
I didn't eat in the great hall but I'm sure it was around £10 maybe slightly less for a meal. Me and my guest rotated through all the gourmet food vans that were there.
On the last day found a load of wagons on the infield at lavant and one of the vans was handmade burgers, wow I have never had a burger that nice and I think I paid £6-7 with chips and a bottle of pop. (And I've eaten a lot of burgers!)

Ah yes, I seem to remember we sat there for a while and had a burger. Gassing Station | Goodwood Events | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
