The ticket says smart attire no jeans etc,
if you don't like it, then don't buy a ticket
Exactly HP!if you don't like it, then don't buy a ticket
I mentioned this last year - the idea is that the GRRC is an exclusive club; one of the caveats for a ticket to this event is the wearing of smart attire.
I you don't want to join in, then just fk off (now this is a rant!).
I don't see that what you do for a job has the slightest bearing on how you should dress at this event, I don't give a toss if you're a Bin man, a Surgeon, Admiral of the Fleet or a Poacher ffs, if it says no jeans and wear a chuffing tie, then that's what is required.
I think that this argument has more to do with people railing against what they perceive to be being told what to do more than anything else.
Jesus, the amount of people who need a cause to rally against is staggering!

I was starting to think I was being an idiot for arguing the case of smart attire, I'm glad to see that I am not the only one who shares this view.

The Captain of Methuen House is urgently requesting support and involvement by all House Members to retain the winners Trophy from last years inaugural 72MM meeting. There is stiff competition and all hands on deck are required!
I'm in Methuen and available to drive any of the McLarens that will be there this weekend Doing both days this year, so will do what I can.
Forza Methuen !

I also find those who don't stick to the dress code immensly irritating. Its lazy and selfish.
Prepare to be irritated by me on Saturday and Sunday then with my 'open neck'. I received an 'invite' to buy a ticket with a lovely brochure, I got in contact and ordered. At no point in the process was a dress code mentioned, it was only when I looked at the website FAQ to check gate times that I noticed. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise, given that I physically can't cope with wearing what is to me restrictive/uncomfortable clothing. The event isn't even vaguely exclusive (tickets have been on general sale for ages and they are now tripping over themselves to give tickets away).
From the GRRC site.
As with any exclusive club, the GRRC Members’ Meeting is intended to be both stylish and relaxed, an informal yet smart event, with everyone expected to respect a dress code accordingly. Gentlemen will be required to wear jackets and either a tie, cravat or polo-necked sweater at the event. Ladies are also encouraged to wear smart clothing.
Blue jeans, t-shirts, low cut or revealing tops, shorts, short skirts, flip-flops, sportswear, baseball caps and heavily branded clothing are strongly discouraged, as are costume or fancy dress.
As it is an open air event, comfortable shoes and casual clothing is best. Always bring some wet weather clothing as the British weather can be unpredictable!
The last paragraph covers me.

Thoroughly bummed out that the Merc shoot out is only happening on Saturday. I can only make Sunday and I was sure it was "suggested" that it would happen on both days.
Oh well. Its not like theres not loads more to see!
I actually thought this the other day when I saw the timetable but had a look for the article and couldn't find it. I assumed I had made it up. Oh well. Its not like theres not loads more to see!
