very nice pictures above. much done in PS? Be interested to see the pictures from the roll.
Thanks, not much done in PS, except the first pic of course, usually just some tweaks to contrast and white balance (and removal of dust spots!). My photos often look quite processed 'out of camera' as I use filters a lot (think graduated/polarising sunglasses for cameras!) to knock the skies back and get more even (or sometimes atmospheric) exposures. My new lens/camera combo really vignettes a lot so that also makes it look processed.

Getting excited about picking up the film from snappy-snaps now....just a few more days!

in that case even more impressed with all your shots! the filters you are using really do add something to your shots. thank you for sharing them.

By the bye, is that a Merlin pulling it along?
It surely is.

Over the twenty year production life of the 109, it was fitted with a wide variety of different engines -

109 prototype - Rolls Royce Kestrel
109A, B, C and D - Junkers Jumo 210
109E, F - Daimler Benz 601
109G - Daimler Benz 605
Avia 199 - Junkers Jumo 211
Hispano Buchon (the one in the picture) - Rolls Royce Merlin

It's ironic that the first and last 109 were both powered by Rolls Royce engines.

Thanks, Eric. It was the shape that suggested it might be a Merlin. If the Luftwaffe had experience of Rolls Royce engines, they must have been surprised by the supercharged versions of the Merlin they came up against in combat.

Sorry, I'm off topic again rolleyes but there's a lovely book called Not Much of an Engineer by Stanley Hooker that begins with the Merlin and goes on as far the RB211. It's worth tracking down.

The Germans were well used to supercharger technology and in some respects their engines were superior. For example, the Daimler Benz 601/605 series were supercharged AND had direct fuel injection. The Merlin only ever had carbs.

One of the stories in Hooker's book is about the carbs and how the Merlin suffered from fuel starvation in certain aerobatic maneouvres. It was a big problem. One day, Miss Shilling, a scientist from the Royal Aeronautical Establishment, arrived with what looked like a thin penny washer. Her cost effective idea was to put a baffle in each float chamber to limit the amount of fuel sloshing about. It worked and was known ever after as Miss Shilling's Orifice.

Away from the busy areas - this is at Lavant - people were still trying hard to capture the spirit.

First lot from me. Straight from camera just crops out of interest.
Really nice shots Phil. The panning shots particularly, a technique I'm still struggling with!

Just to let everyone know the latest edition of Octane magazine hit the shelves today , in my opinion this is the best motoring magazine going if you like a selection of old and new but this month is a bit special , it has the best review of the Goodwood Revival magazine I have seen yet , great photographs as well , a real souvenir of the event , AND I believe a feature on our very own Lowdrag's Jaguar if I am not mistaken !

Just noticed this thread as a newbie and thought it might be time to add a few more as the memory of Revival fades away. A most fantastic weekend and what a great selection of pics - espsecially Mini1275. Funnily enough we had dinner with Roger Wills (Mini No3) on the thursday - very queit unassuming man but by god he can drive that Mini as witnessed in the sunday race (knackered the tyres though and ended up 5th) Here's some of mine, more can be found at www.racinggreenphotography.com (a word to all who put links to their pics - don't write http or url before the address, the link will work right here without it and its much easier to view pics than having to retype or paste an address). First post on this forum - hi all! I have a link her, albeit slightly late in the day, to our 4 day jaunt at the Revival in the Police Mini Cooper S, at http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m83/maxfli100/O... I hope, if everybody is not sick and tired of pictures by now (and how could you be - what a show!)you'll enjoy them. There is also a link to the video footage that was taken when we 'chased' Mr Bean at he end of the 2 laps. Plenty more, and I've written a book about everything that's gone on this year which is full of shots of our event participation from Brands Hatch to Birmingham etc etc, which is available to buy. If anybody is interested in previewing the whole book please pm me on noeldh@policeminicooper.co.uk and I'll happily send you the link.
