Why were there all these modern cars at the 'motorshow'? Where abouts was it, inside or outside the actual circuit perimeter?

The Earls Court Motor Show was inside the track, near the Paddock. The idea behind having some modern cars shown there is that they are concepts of what will be available in the future.

Sounds a bit far-fetched to me, and is just another thing detracting from the actual motor racing which the Goodwood Revival is supposedly all about. I've supper with Lord March soon so maybe I'll put some of the questions asked to him.
