Anyway, go and look at his rides from last year. Its quite obvious it is not real. You don't go from averaging 11 mph on a ride using the iphone app to those speeds.

Why not just open up an ad slot or two, seems much more simple and less divisive...

Not that many people pay though, they are a prime example of someone who should just start taking ads, the amount of traffic they must get to the website and their apps, they'd make a lot of money if they did it right.

It has got a bit silly, I just accept new followers, and I think I now have 320 or something, and I do seem to get lots of odd kudos - some Eastern European chap gives me kudos on EVERY ride basically, I have no idea who he is.

There is also a guy from America and china that do the same here and there, all quite strange. I've unfollowed quiote a lot of people as the feed is so clogged with those st challenges that I was missing stuff from people who I like to keep tabs on wink

Agreed. Kind of cool for looking at the odd tour climb. Pretty st for looking at a 300 yard climb in Sussex.

An Observation:

One thing that Strava has highlighted to me is that people without wives and children have the time to do a lot of riding and/or running.
Don't get too bogged down in excuses as to why you don't ride more...

I know plenty of guys who manage to get a decent amount of miles in with kids.

Just today? I got a load of KOMs (actual ones) Sunday and it seemed to work ok, also got a 2015 one on Monday which worked.

Is there any way to compare YTD mileage with previous years? I know I could pay for Veloviewer (I do like the graph style they use) but I don't use any of the other data and I'm sure I'd seen something similar (not in graph form) on Strava in the past.

I wonder if Dr Beard has many family commitments?
1000 miles a month is soon racked up by commuting and weekend stuff if you want it. I know a lot of family men doing that sort of mileage.

Not all familt men have equal circumstances or commitments though. What works for one doesn't necessarily work for another.

I am not going to get a single ride in on any weekend in April due to childcare. Thats 0630am until 2300 each day on my own with two babies and that doesn't even include my complex weekly shift pattern which is in itself unpredictable.

I still get good mileage in but if I was not married with no kids and a 9 to 5 job my monthly mileage would double if not triple.
Yeh I know, but most people don't work shifts and weekends. So you're the exception rather than the majority.

So currently taking my iPhone and garmin 810 out - iPhone to run strava and garmin as gps and speedo.

I know you can somehow link the garmin to strava but is it that reliable, and will it add in all the stages etc?

Problem is my phone battery is getting worse and worse and after my last ride (4hrs) it died just as I got in and plugged it in!
Are you actually serious?

http://www.strava.com/how-it-works - if you are then read that. Yes the garmin is a FAR superior device for everything to do with GPS recording of a ride. So record the ride, plug the garmin in and follow the instructions, you don't need to use your iPhone at all.

Looks like GPS glitch to me. 63 mph to 0 in less than a few seconds.

Do you have smart recording on your Garmin? If so almost certainly not accurate.

I'd also question your sanity if you did actually get to 63 mph, but it's not likely given even in the pro tour they rarely get to that speed down massively long and closed road downhills.

I think its in the data recording section? Might be right, just looks a bit weird, not your fault obviously biggrin

Strava experts, what do you make of this - today I went on a ride, got a few KOM's, one of them being this https://www.strava.com/segments/714722 yet I don't appear in the leaderboard at all? But when you click on today you can see my time, and I can see it in my results, but I don't appear at the top of the segment? Any ideas, seems a bit weird, its happened on two or three of the other KOM's on the same ride too? Have I been flagged?

@ Maddad - Good man, that appears to have fixed it!

@ Herman, it can be a bit weird with smart, it can also be a bit odd anyway, but usually less so with 1 second smile

Nah, looks like crap to me. Spent half the ride off road which makes it even more hard to believe.
