When you log a ride and find you've got a pb on segment. Is there anyway to look back on that segments previous times by yourself? If this the whole function of the private mode?

Would be really good to see times on segments on hill climbs to gage improvement.

In the segment page there is a drop down where you can select all results, who you are following and just yourself.

Not entirely sure where it is in the mobile version as I hardly ever use that.

oh just found it. You click on the segment to bring up all the times and what not. Then on the right hand side there a drop bar. If you click that it will let you select "me" and show all previous times on that segment.

Two local lads from my club doing really well for themselves. Tobyn winning the Canary Wharf round of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series and James McLaughlin absolutely flying in France at the moment.

I'm in good company then. My ride today had me riding through a lake (twice) and passing mysteriously through an army barracks' perimeter fence as if it wasn't there. So much drift that despite riding some segments at least twice, Strava only recorded me as passing through them once. frown

Meanwhile James McLaughlin's GPS trace layered 17 laps of data one on top of the other almost perfectly. irked

I had the opposite with wayward GPS the other day.
I actually "did" a segment without going on the road it's located on!
I went a different route somewhat near the start and end points and apparently that counted on my dodgy GPS trail. hehe

I had one of 'those' rides today, fecking GPS drift cut out a load of Cat4 climb segments for me (Terrys Lane, Holloway Road, Aston Hill, and a couple of other smaller ones), plus it docked me 8 mph on a descent! I saw 58.8 mph going down Britwell Hill on the Edge screen (my fastest ever speed), but Garmin/Strava insists I didn't go over 50.8 - grrrrr!

What gearing do you run, I can't pedal any faster than about 46 on 11-50 frown Strava often tells me I'v gone faster but GPS for speed always seems erratic

I get the opposite, my strava often says my highest speed is 61mph + when I'm lucky if I even touch 35/40!

Having not used Strava/VeloViewer for a while, I'm struggling to remember where to find the 'fly-by' feature thingy where you can see other people who where out and about in the same area as you, at the same time. It might not even be on Strava/VeloViewer? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Does any of the above make any sense whatsoever?

confused

Thanks, Scott!

Why isn't it accessible directly from the Strava 'dashboard'? It would make sense, surely?

I am running a standard 53/39 with 11-25 cassette but was in a bit of a tuck, chin on the stem belly on the top tube - tbh the cadence required above 50-ish is quite de-stabalising so it then comes down to wind direction and gradient!

Britewell Hill is not particularly long but hits 20%, enough for even a lightweight like me to make good progress! Picture and details here, if you are anywhere near the Chilterns I would highly recommend it, better going up than down though!! wink

For descents like that I find it's more about confidence that gravity. I'm carrying a good 15kg more than you but you're a much better descender.

Thanks!

I have to admit there was a split second when I had 'committed' where I thought 'what happens if a rabbit runs out from the verge or a tyre goes pop', best not to think like that otherwise your instinct is to grab for the brakes which is when it all goes horribly wrong!!
