You wouldn't be. That isn't possible over a short ride.

I've worn jackets that have no venting at all and although I was a bit sweaty, its nothing compared to being caught in a proper bout of rain.

But in a proper bout of rain you'll get wet anyway, unless you are also wearing waterproof trousers, waterproof hat, overshoes, mudguards, waterproof gloves etc.
And quite frankly most peiople don't carry all that stuff with them.

Didn't we have this exact same question last week? wink

For waterproof and breathable you need something made from eVent fabric rather than pissing about with a plastic pacamac with a couple of tiny eyelets under the armpit. After doing a bit of research into which is the best waterproof I ended up with a Rab Drillium which I really rate. Here's a bit more info....

Thanks all!

Using my new found understanding of seeking the near-impossible (thanks for the tips!) I've ordered a gillet. I figured it will be cool enough to not get boiling, but keep enough rain off my body so that I don't get wet and cold. A bit of a comprimise for the current nice-temperatures but wet weather.

Come the winter I'll be going for a proper waterproof jobbie!

Thanks all for the suggestions biggrin
