I'm very new to the world of road bikes - been into mountain bikes for about 16 years though. If it were my choice I'd have probably gone for a quality steel over any other frame. I've ridden all sorts from the mountain bike world and would say that nothing has the 'character' of a quality hand made steel frame.
Ive got a set of royce hubs from ten years ago used them in all weathers and they are still as smooth as silk.I think he made some great choices from his connoisseur's point of view the rebranded made in taiwan off the shelf frames etc is a bit predictable for your dream bike isnt it ?

Thought the completed wheels were a work of art. That guy really new his craft.. and watching them spinning up close, they seemed 100% true.. awesome!
Absolutely, but shirley theres someone here that could have done the same job? Though a shed in the Uk isnt quite the same...Admittedly I was jealous, been past Marin and up route 1, I remember the first time and nearly crashed the car - one side of the road the huge trees and the other the ocean, couldnt decide where to look. Beautiful place.
Watched it on iPlayer (through the Wii - worth it for that!) loved the quote that the Chopper was responsible for the death of the cycle in the 70's/80's. I always remember them as the bike to own - shows how much we know as kids....
