Not the best, but these are from my 35 miler up and around Burrator reservoir.

Trusty stead:

View on the way back to Plymouth. You can see the sound, where all the big Navy ships come in

Encountered all sorts of weather today; Hail, wind, rain the lot!

The old Vickers site at Wisley/Ockham?
Yep, by the A3 near Wisley. What's 'old Vickers'?
Aircraft manufacturer Vickers (later British Aircraft Corporation) built it in 1944, and conducted flight testing of aeroplanes there, as an additional site to their factory at Brooklands. It was in use by BAC, testing military and civil aircraft types, until 1972.

Amongst others, these were first flown and/or developed at the site...

Vickers Valiant - part of the UK's nuclear capable 'V' Bomber force with the Victor and Vulcan.

Vickers Viscount - successful British turboprop airliner.

The site was never an operational base for combat aircraft, and having been built toward the end of the war it was relatively safe from German air attacks.

The big hangars were built in the 1960s for the final assembly of VC10s, all of which are now retired from RAF service. Here's a short (and to be honest, not very exciting) video of the hangars shortly before they were demolished in the late 1980s... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sgZEp3nE0I

My first go on a proper downhill course at Rotorua Mountain Bike Park, my first go on a bike with disc brakes, my first go on a bike with full suspension, my first go on a 180 degree banked turn that tries to launch you into outer space if you cock it up and my first time on a bike where I was properly stting myself! hehe

Jesus what happened in the Cafe that they had to stick you on a spinal board - did you lean back on the chair?

Or did the paramedics fancy some cake before driving you to A&E

Either way glad to know you are ok.

Had an off on Coal not Dole (according to Strava). Got myself back to the trail centre where I was told to lie down until the Ambiwlans turned up. Don't remember anything from the fire road at the start of the run until the ambulance crew were assessing me.

Still a bit sore, but I don't appear to have suffered any permanent damage! Glad I was taking a 'better safe than sorry' approach with full face and body armour - looking like a power ranger has it's benefits.

Haha, yeah that's the one! I think the old derelict pub was called the Floating Light, and there's one in Diggle called the Hanging Gate, so can see where the confusion came from....! wink

I you carry on through Standedge Cutting, theres another pub on your right called the Carriage House which does some great homebrew ciders if I remember rightly. Wouldn't want to have too many of those and attempt the ride home though....! drunk
