For most yes.

But there will be stuff like I mentioned (modafinil) in this race. I know that for sure.

Its remarkably common in the long distance stuff.
Unfortunately there will be, but in a limited capacity- as I also mentioned I've seen it on charity rides,I don't see its use by anyone serious though.

Agreed but most are over the counter. EPO? LOL really maybe if you have a camper van following you.

Caffeine via double expressos will be the go to drug.

Pit stop at CP2 for a total blood transfusion ? smile Would be the way to do it in style.
To be fair, that would be an impressive achevement in itself without breaking the rules on outside support... Do the rules let you tow a medical team in a kiddie trailer?

Just replaced batteries
I weigh 79kg
Achilles both borked (since Bolzano)
210kph wind in Croatia crushed spirit
Vitamin I, diclofenac and Haribo for me. Others, I'm told, are using stronger stuff.
Don't drink coffee
The damage is making me super tired all the time
So happy to have left Croatia
Sarajevo tonight, if this headwind will relent a little
Freak floods in Macedonia may force a rethink when I get to CP4

Haven't done the sims but I think I'm close to 2/3 done, which means I'm close to overtaking my fund-raising amount. If you haven't already, please consider donating, or I'll post a picture of my arse. Ta.
Just stumbled upon this, I've been sulking about cycling biggrin

Outstanding work, donating now...

I know of at least one rider using Modafinil. Shame, really. I do wonder how pervasive it is and pervasive it will become as the status of the race grows.

Keep up the big effort Gruffy!!!!!!!!!

[just making sure we keep this on the first page of the forum. Seems more significant/important/impressive than another MAMIL asking what £15k road bike to buy wink ]

Looks like less than 100miles to next CP, but he's picked up a cold/chest infection.... still pushing those pedals though at speeds that would make a lot of Sunday riders blush!

He must be digging deep now

I am sure it would help him to hear a few words of encouragement from his followers

He is, in my book, a top lad

It's become a routine now.... check how Darren's doing every few hours.
I'm in awe of all of the riders, it's an incredible achievement to get this far, let alone to finish.

He's just posted on Twitter that he's reached Sarajevo. And his legs and balls have been tweeting again. Darrensarse is suspiciously quiet!

After what he's subjected it to I bet Darren's Arse is no longer speaking to him...

Just been looking at some stats of his so far;

He's been riding for 111hours 19minutes

during which he's cycled 1599.5miles

so that's an average of 14.4mph

he's climbed 71,382feet

Currently he's 23km from Check point 4 (all uphill) fair to say just to get this far is incredible!

Once he's there (making some route assumptions) it's less and 600miles to the finish but that's mainly downhill/level(ish) apart from a few lumps (ok 38,000ft of lumps).
