Therein lies the conflict, not once have I ever argued the opposite or suggested I was anything special. I may be guilty of under estimating the abilities of others but certainly not of over estimating the ability of myself.

Like you, I am doing rides I would not have been able to do a year ago, but I know full well I am still hovering around the middle of the overall capability stakes. Some days I seem to fly, other days I feel tired. Its all part of the sport I guess.
The thing is, you don't know what the overall spectrum of capability is, how are you defining this information?

You seem to be dissapointed that you're not amazing at the sport, despite being new to it, and not really training as such? You can probably get better than you are now, but how much better you can get is a bit of an unknown.

Meh. Good days, bad days. 'appens.
Exactly. You will find some days the legs don't want to play the game even though they should be fresh!

I thought he meant it as in it's a pretty decent average speed, and no one really commented about it.
Yes I think that is what he meant. Not that I needed the reassurance of any comments, was just adding some context to the improvement.

Agree with Ben actually I think some times the shorter segments are ok, short sharp hills etc.

More a comment on the irrelevant willy waving that was evident in both posts.

They both did excellent times but somehow need validating by telling everyone about them.

Almost like there is no point shagging Cameron Diaz if you're not allowed to tell your mates about it.
If I had said 24 mph you'd have been fine with it, get over it.

It won't be legit, not many pro's capable of going that quick. Even the best ones. It will be motorpaced I would imagine behind a van or something.

That's part of a TT course. Harry is a good tester though was nowhere to be seen in a hilly road race I did with him earlier this year. Though the git did Beatle by 3 seconds when I got my 10 mile
Pb in tring.

As you say that is part of a TR loop starting at the top of beacon hill going to Odiham and back.

Does a TT bike really give you that much aero benifit? The Pedal Heaven riders obviously also do a fair bit of training around my area.
Yes HCC175 I think the course is?

A tt course, a number on your back is quite a powerful thing, especially if you're only going for 20 odd mins! When I first did my club ten on my road bike (with zipps, skin suit) I did it in 22.15 (around 27mph avg) which of you asked me what I'd do beforehand if have never said 27 mph! Anyway I got a tt bike with all the gubbins and got a decent position and lowered my pb on that course to 20.15 which is just shy of 30mph avg. a tt set up can make a huge difference. But some people suffer putting out their best power in an aggressive position.

Bloody Pedalheaven, constantly turn up to races with 8 riders and dominate everything. I know a lot of them well, they're a v good team.

Dedicated if he's stopping at junctions at home.

I think he's riding it normally then just increasing the speeds before uploading. It's been shown that it's not digitalepo (no blips) but there must be simple ways of manipulating the data if you cared enough.
There are. A chap from our club did it the other day to show how easy it is to mess with the code/file or something.

Me too, is it so hard to believe? Lets face it they are used to riding for 5-6 hours and a pretty high pace and up some pretty big climbs, surely it's not unrealistic that if they made a shorter targeted attack on these segments it would be very doable?
Its possible, but unlikely, the people at the top of lots of the climbs are already pro riders or at the very least the very best domestic UK pro's/hill climb specialists.

As would any pro cyclist wink
As would anyone decent, looking at lots of the segments down there they don't seem to get the action many of the Surrey ones do.

I think I know who it is actually, and I may have ridden with him Tuesday night, but I can't be sure, so I've requested to follow him.

rofl Yes, I don't think the single speed will cut it.

That said, I see the two finest words an athlete wants to see in his schedule for Monday,no, not interval session, rest day!
