Is it just me or do the vast amount of road bikes bought new recently require large stem riser/spacers.... they did it with mine...hate them...why can't a frame, saddle and stem be adjustment enough?!

Beautiful Bianchi btw...

After 18 months racking up the miles on my Trek 8.5DS, most of which are on the road I thought I'd get myself my first 'proper' road bike...

Local bike shop (TriSports in Letchworth) are a decent bunch so ended up going back there (they only sell Trek) and this one ticked all the boxes:

...just been out on my first test ride and it's a world away from the DS, still getting use to the gear change on the brake levers which is interesting wink Got my first sportive in a couple of weekends time which will be its first real test so will be getting some decent training rides in between now and then.

I really don't like curved tubes, it makes me so nervous (nearly as bad as the Cannondale single fork), that that is simply stunning. Kudos!

I just did a double-take on re-reading that and realised - the bike on the work surface is ok, but the tins and boxes and tat on the cupboards sets off the OCD. I'm glad for you (and me) that "through the keyhole" is never going to tour my house!!

It rides nice too now I've had a chance to get out on it.

Not in the trade, however some friends who are and I tend to hunt out bargains and buy bits from the US.

Here's a better pic as the other was pretty rushed!
