At least you now have a justification for a Chinese Cree Light. smile

Get a spare battery pack as well, just to save yourself getting stuck.
I'll probably source my lights from my LBS as they are good guys, it's very local, and if I don't support them, how can I expect anyone else to do so?

Yesterday's ride home felt very dark, much darker than the previous week bizarrely.

If I ran a LBS I'd be stocking those lights. Don't think they're CE marked though, which could be a problem.

Been lazy ever since St Crispins ride so decided to commute today, didn't fancy doing both ways on the same day after a lazy fortnight so I drove into to work with the bike and kit.
Nice ride home at 11PM, it was nice to struggle up the hills in the dark when no one could see my pain face smile, the 300 lumen Lezyne Macro Drive was more than adaquate too.
Not sure how much I fancy the busy NSL in the morning but I've got no choice the car is 11 miles away smile

Well after the elation of my overtake yesterday morning, I ended the day with a snapped gear cable, so in the car today. Hopefully the bike shop down the road have one in stock so I can get my hands dirty when I get home!

10 miles each way for me. I've been averaging 2-3 days a week lately smile

On the way home last night, at the end of the track by the river Humber, a puncture frown

Somehow I managed to change the inner tube in the pitch blackness. Which impressed myself!

I went past a chap cycling along CS7 this morning on a singlespeed with a difference this morning.

I'd guess he had a 14 tooth cog on the rear, but what made it different was that he had the same size cog on the front! He was fastest off the lights by a country mile, right up to the point where he span out at about 13mph on the flat! hehe

He used it to play bicycle polo (and indeed had a couple of mallets sticking out of his rucksack, and as he said, there's not much call for top speed on a basketball court!
I was wondering what his story was! I remember seeing him in the past with one or two polo mallets sticking out from his backpack.

Is this craze spreading?! I'm guessing CS7 is in London, but saw a guy on a single speed with tiny front and back cogs and what looked like a polo stick on his back cycle just up from Edgbaston cricket ground heading towards Birmingham this morning.

Edit - google search http://birminghambikepolo.com/ Interesting!

This morning I had to take to the pavement to avoid a bus on the wrong side of the road who was avoiding some protesters at the end of Oxford Street. I must’ve got caught in a drain or something because the rear instantly went flat. Big hole in the tube, tyre looked OK though. First puncture in over 2000 miles. Was running late and really could’ve done without it.

And annoyingly I’ve now noticed that the spare tubes I bought are the long valve rather than the short/normal so the OCD light is starting to flash.

It is indeed. Cycle Superhighway 7. It starts in Colliers Wood then follows the Northern Line up through Tooting, Balham & Clapham to Elephant & Castle then over the river into the city.

I am now riding in and home every day, whereas before I was riding in 3/4 times a week for about 9 months - god I am shattered by Thursday evenings ride home - Fridays ride gets met with trepidation and consciously I set my time as 'normal' plus 2 minutes [I ride 6.3 miles each way, at about 22.5 minutes each way on a hardtail MTB with knobblies].

My rides aren't just for getting to work and back, I use them as exercise as time outside of commuting and work is vacuumed up by the family so I go up against the clock each ride to get as close as possible to my fastest time of 20 minutes 40 seconds [rule #10 rules!]. I certainly notice my times lengthen the further into the week I am. Rule #5 is constantly with me on every ride, spurring me on smile

This is exactly what I do & our rides are about the same distance. I'm feeling it today after three rides this week & a bail on Monday - you're not alone! Strava is the spur for me to go after the pb, dog walkers notwithstanding.

Seeing as you ride the same distance, do you do the same times too and are you on an MTB / roadie / racer?

MTB - Rockhopper & regularly getting pasted by the lads on the road bikes. My times are usually within a minute or two. My commute is flat & by the sea, so the clincher is the wind. Nine times out of ten, it's a westerly so it blows me in & kills on the way home.

Today it's easterly, so it'll be an easy ride home.

Nope, no fking way I'm wearing earphones/headphones on a bike in London hehe. A Met for me at the moment, along with a Crumpler bag (keeps the back cooler).

My average time is 19 minutes over 5 miles but I'm not sure you ought to take that as a meaningful comparison.
