Ah interesting, working from home today otherwise would pop down. Though I don't generally bother test riding.

I'm a funny shape so its build up, cant get off the peg. Also with the new aero bikes you cant easily drop the stems down without cutting the steerer. Both the Madone and Vias have funky aero spacers.

That saying, I do fancy a go on the new Vias just to see what its like (I really need something in alu, not a 5th aero bike)

Apparently I have just bought a new DA Freehub as the other is knackered, new BB and Headset bearings as well.

It would appear I need to increase my maintenance regime on the bike or not ride it through the winter with minimal T&C!

Ah ok, fair enough - yes I saw that, part of the clean look aren't they. I'd use my figures from this bike I suppose. A mate of mine has the Vias, I may ask for a quick spin, but I should imagine like most things it won't feel much different to my S Works Tarmac with nice wheels on ha.

tis a different Carbon Lay-up and the frames are made in the US (so mainly Labour and a little made in Wisconsin stamp). All the H2s are made in Asia. Is it worth the premium, dunno. I needed a H1 fit, but due to a pricing screw up in my favour Trek honoured the H1 @ H2 price (or rather I got a free Quarq of it).

The new aero brakes are very good, I thought they had more bite than the DA ones on my other bike.

Bespoke have a demo day today / tomorrow in the Wharf, they have a Demo 9.9 to ride. Also out was a Vias, Cannondales, Colnagos, Parlees, Masons etc.
I nearly went down there to say hello to Dom at Mason but ran out of time. I went over to Specialized Ruislip and upgraded my 5 year old floppy shoes with a pair of black s-works 6. Looking forward to trying them out this weekend smile

The Mason bikes looked very nice, I really liked the black one they had on display. Enjoy the new shoes!

Monarch RC3 Plus debonair to replace my monarch rt3, hopeful it removes the "wooden dead feeling" the old monarch is criticised for and I've been getting increasingly bothered about.

I want some new shoes too, the lace up S Works look good, did you go with those or the boa ones?

Just a couple of KMC 10-speed Quick Links from Urban Cyclery in Gorseinon for me. I popped in on the way home from Battle On The Beach.

I leave you to guess why I needed to buy two quick links after a beach MTB race... wink

On the upside I got 'mates rates' by dropping my brother's name in the shop. "Every little helps" thumbup

In anticipation of a 100k/1650m ride over Easter (bit lumpy over such a long distance for me) I've finally given in and bought another Elite Stealth cage. I could've fitted one of the other silver or coloured cages I have lying around for the ride (I normally only have one) but it wouldn't do to have mis-matched cages, would it? Especially on a matte black bike...

Also bagged a fairly decent selection pack of bars, gels & tabs, including a 750ml bottle, for £6 while I was at it.

Treated myself to a new nice weather helmet. This won't be used on the commute at all. It's a Kask Mojito. Always wanted one since I saw them being used by Team Sky a couple of years ago. I generally don't like Team Sky clothing fan boi look, but thankfully this isn't in the team colours and I do like the union jack theme smile

Got it from Wiggle. Decent price and I gave the Haribo to Mrs B, so that keeps her quiet and doesn't question the purchase biggrin

Going to replace my five year old commuter helmet in the winter. Going to go for a high viz yellow one. I cycle though the centre of London everyday, so I take any opportunity to make myself more visible to other road users. Probably going to get a Giro Savant.
I decided I needed a new helmet and found the Mojito extremely comfortable in the shop. Went home to think about things and managed to find this online for £30 more

A Kask Protone. I'd like to say the aero design made a difference but its done fk all to my strava times lol Its so comfortable compared to my old helmet which rattled around my head too much...The strap design is very clever, holding the helmet on even with the straps undone...

I have a Kask K-10, which I really like, but the metal-rivet-hinge-thingy on the strap rusted though over the winter, so I need to look at either returning it, or replacing it.

(Can you tell I'm not an engineer?)

Seems this week is the week for buying new helmets! I've just bought the Met parabellum in Fluro Yellow!

Should make me easy to spot with a Union Flag on the peak for the TV crew in Tuscany.

Where did you find the protone for £30 more than a Mojito?

Used my new Kask on the way home last night. Strap is more comfortable than my old Giro or the Lazer I bought at the bike show a year ago. The Kask also much more comfortable and you feel like you are wearing as opposed to it being plonked on your head.

Also bought a SRAM Rival 10Sp chain set last night on Ebay. £50 all in and it included BB. Chain rings look to be in excellent condition. Had been contemplating a new one but they are £90 and this is a compact with the right crank lengths and they aren't that common on the bay.

This is just a mild upgrade to the Giant. The rest of the drive train is SRAM Force, but I kept the Shimano Sora chainset that came with the bike when I bought it in 2010. Think its done about 5000 miles now and its looking very tired. Also it doesn't match the rest of the groupset and that upsets my OCD biggrin

Dress lightly. It's absolutely boiling. Bloody good day out though.
