Couldn't find the old thread, so thought I would start a new one.

What is the value of your bike(s) vs your car(s)?

I'll start

1 car vs 4 bikes

Car Value £650
Bike Value £5000

Therefore my bikes are worth 7.7 x my car

cool

Not sure the second hand value of my bikes, but I've got three (MTB, two Road) from new;

MTB - £800
Road 1 - £700
Road 2 - £1000

Car 1 £1400
Car 2 £2000

£2500 on bikes, £3400 on cars.

Factor in the running cost of two cars, and you quickly appreciate how st I am with money / at life.

Cove G-Spot, not clue what it's worth as it's 3rd time around for some bits - say £1500, new probably more than £4k given the shocking price of stuff these days - £920 for the new Fox 36's!!

Anyway - Car's worth about £12k so I'm either winning or losing depending on the criteria.

This will be so much more interesting if a PH'er pops up with a Veyron and a Rusty pub bike...

3 bikes - £3k total

1 car - £19k

Need to spend more money on bikes, clearly.

Bike RRP new £4k.
Most expensive car I ever bought £2400.
Current company car way more than bike but doesn't count.

The irony of stopping buying Late 80's and 90's hot VW's to get into mountain biking and save money!!

I could multiply the value of my car by 20 times by putting my best bike in it...

Let alone the rest of the fleet... Luckily its a very cheap car!

Car is a heavily modified 850R with around 350bhp - so probably £2,000? (Horrifying, given what I've spent on it).

Dalsnibba - around 10K
Serotta CSi- around 3k
Cross bike - around 3k
Path Racer - around 2.5k
Time Machine- around 10k

So ~30k's worth of transport all in.

Any way you cut it, my bikes are worth more than my car, both financially and from a fulfillment point of view.

I am thinking about another Caterham again though, so the balance of financial value would swing back to cars, and the fulfillment would probably be a close run thing!

I'm all for riding at the moment, getting to Wales once every 6-8 weeks, and also planning a Morzine / Portugal / Spain riding trip for next season.
