It's a shame fashion spoils things, I have and still use regularly on different bikes some mid 90s Dura Ace and Ultegra SPD pedals (ie using the MTB style system). The pedals are little jewels, function really well, and have proved reliable. never had any pulling out problems or foot soreness when used with Sidi road shoes. Used to race on them and was always told it would end badly; it didn't. Wish I could buy some new equivalents but long discontinued sadly frown

I think the likes of Wellgo do clones but not sure what the quality would be like.

Lake do a neoprene all-weather MTB boot that is expensive but very comfortable and easy to use (Boa system which is ace). Not especially warm but can vouch for water resistance and I have used for commuting type rides or when I might need to walk etc

Drip candle wax into the holes in the sole.
The water isn't coming in that way. It's coming in through the big holes in the overshoe, the working up between the shoe and overshoe.

Ah. I do know a couple of people who wrap their shoes in clingfilm before putting on the overshoes.

I am not sure why you commute with deep section carbon wheels (I have a suspicion) but why would you have to remove them if you used the same cleat as 90% of all other city commuters?
I wasn't being entirely serious.

Although not entirely on topic, I feel compelled to post these in a WTF sort of way!
