I just bought some clip in pedals and i need a pair of spd shoes (the ones with 2 bolt holes on the bottom so not the spd sl ones with the triangle of holes) in size 44/45 but i can't find them anywhere! at least not with a budget of <£60.

any suggestions of where to look? i've tried:

Are half decent, and are available in your size - though I'd recommend going a size or two bigger given Shimano shoes tend to come up small!

Wiggle.co.uk own brand dhb get very good write ups, i got some that size for about £50, they take most spd's including the ones you have...

Um... I bought these a year ago. Same price now and got your size in stock (I'm a 45 too). I've been very happy with them.

I got a sweet pair of Shimano shoes in size 44 on ebay. Good as new, £25.

Decathlon also do some: worth a look if there is a store near you: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/mtb-shoes-853604/

Be aware that their already dreadful website is currently having a tantrum and not displaying prices!

Also, try Sports Direct. But their website is even worse, and I'm not going to waste my time trying to find you a link. Sorry.

I have a pair of these in 45 (brown) which you can have for £25+P&P if you want.
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-mt42-spd-multi-pur...

I have used them about 10 times.
Then I caught one of the laces in my chain which reminded my why fixed riders should always use velcro.
Damn thing nearly tore my leg off and sent me into a spectacular 20ft skid, which would have perhaps looked cool if I hadn't been shouting, "fffffuuuuuuuuuuck".

So, the right shoe does need a new lace.

I now have a paid of the dhb MTB style ones from wiggle (3 velcro straps, no laces). I think I paid around £40.

Shimano R077's. £50 delivered. They have the bolt holes for regular SPD and SL so that's good.

I had a pair of those, very good and comfy shoe, lasted me 2 years. Just be a little careful with the "hinge/pivot" for the velcro strap. I found that to be the weak point. Loike all shimano shoes the insole is rubbish and you are best off getting a nice one from a decent running shop.
