Anyone doing it this year?

I went onto the website on Monday and was gutted that the event is FULL! I can't believe 30,000 people registered for this in just 3 days (tickets came out on Friday).

http://www.bhf.org.uk/get_involved/take_part_in_ou...

Any ideas how I could participate on the ride without registering? many moons some mates and I would just 'turn up' and join the riders but i'm not sure thats possible anymore. I promised someone i'd take them and haven't had the heart to tell them I was too lazy to get the tickets when they came out on Friday.

Any suggestions?

I always used to just join in about 100 yds from the start and do the ride. Nothing to stop you as its all public roads. I did always ensure I made a donation to the charity though!

Have you done this recently, i.e. last year?

I have no problem making a donation to the charity, just need to make sure I can get on the ride, and not treated like a criminal during the ride/at the end.

I know of several people in the Brighton area who do this regularly - one of them even goes over the finish line to collect a medal, just pretends he's lost his number en route!

I should imagine there are a lot of similar stories!

Yup, doing it for the first time ever this year, i got in on March 1st having been advised how quick you have to be to register

The thing about just tagging along is that you're not covered to use their service stops, and getting back will be tricky as Southern Trains won't allow bikes on board on the day
