Wow! Just had my first twenty mile shakedown on the new cyclocross and what a difference to the old MTB. Picked it up to put it on the car and almost threw it on the roof. Whoops, it's light!

I've run on slicks on the old bike but bugger me this thing flies, it's almost as if I've got someone elses legs on... and their surname is probably Boardman biggrin

The narrower bars feel twitchy as hell at the moment so no wheelies for now!

The only negative for now is aching palms but I assume that passes? Could be the levers need angling in a fraction but to be honest I was too busy looking for prey to concentrate.

Woot!!!!!

double tape on the bars should sort out your palms. common on the spring classics but a few cx riders do it too...

Note to self: CX brakes aren't as good as discs, gates are hard!

Easton bar tape: the stuff I used on my CX bike (now sold) came with extra strips of foam for placing on the drops where your hands sit. Very useful and worked IMO. I've also seen gel pads you can place under the tape but no idea if they actually help.

Note to self: discs on my flat-bar 'CX mutant bike are sometimes too good...
