None are particularly good, they either don't pay out or have daft excesses.

My friends and I have started to use M&S home contents insurance. Only items of £4000 need to be declared and it insures for theft and accidental damage with no excess. Lots of people on bikeradar use them too and have very good reviews.

Or give MoreTh^n a try. I think they give up to £5k of cover without having to declare each bike. I think this cost me about £30 extra from memory

I spent good money on a lock and it managed to stop the thieves nicking my bike. They ended up stripping it instead. Front and rear shocks, handlebars, disk brakes and shifters. Thankfully had added it to my Endsleigh home cover not long before and they paid out with no issues.

Ive heard great things about M&S, they seem to pay out the full amount no problems.

I pay about £30 extra a year on my home insurance for £3K, I have to name the bike as a specific item though.

Always check the small print on household policies, my friend was very disappointed when his bike got knicked and he thought it was covered, he found out cycles where exempt in the small print. Some policies insure 'personal items' up to £1k, his did but cycles were not included!

Another M&S user here, but not had to rely on them yet. I could get cheaper contents cover elsewhere excludign the bikes, but the extra I pay for M&S is still far cheaper than it'd cost me for a separate policy for our bikes.

Most folk I ride with are insured with M&S too.
