Hi guys
I've now seen a few people cycling around Cambridge with what appears to be a single LED front light that looks like it has a nice beam, plus a strobe type flash every second(ish).

The package is a round body about 10-12cm long, 3-4cm diameter. Very plain

Any idea what it might be? Most of the equivalent LED lights appear to do Constant OR Flash, but not both at the same time

Cheers

Thanks for the pointer. So the Joystick flash mode is a constant burn with a bright blip? It doesn't mention that in the blurb or the manual, but if a user says it does that's different. Can you confirm that?

Several modes...

High - 3 hours
Medium - 10 hours
Low - 24 hours

Flash - Days (actually about 72 hours).

The 'flash' setting is indeed more of a 'pulse'. The light never entirely goes out in the flash setting, it alternates between about 10% brightness and 100% brightness.

EDIT: It's the same for all the Exposure lights, including the rear lights.

Cool beans!

I did in the end find the bit in the Exposure FAQ that covers it too:

Do Exposure Lights have a flashing/strobe feature?

Yes, The flashing mode can be used in many situations and is a key feature to alert people to your whereabouts. There is a low continual light through out the flash cycle to aid vision and depth perception of others. This is accessed by pressing the button for one second when the light is switched on

Exposure lights are brilliant, all of them!
They all have the strobe feature, not just the joystick.

The Strata is a fantastic light if you do just road riding, the "dip" feature is great.

yes it does do that.

I did the clever thing of pointing it in my eyes and turning it on.
When my sight returned I can confirm constant light with a blip.
Thank goodness I'm not the only one. Just got my new Cateye TL-LD610 rear light (in white with clear lens to match the bike) and decided to , ahem, assess it's brightness relative to the one it was bought to replace. 80,000 mcd (candlepower?)claimed, and after several hours I could just about watch TV again. Looks great on the bike 'though, and only £17.49 from wiggle (black body/red lens model still circa £20, both versions reduced from £24.99). thumbup

I see a roadie in Cambridge with the sort of light described. It's def not a joystick, but may be a strada. However, it's not 10%versus 100%, more like 90% - 100% every 1sec. He rides in CUCC kit and when I see him, appears to be on either their 30 mile route 1 or 2.

He could do with pointing it down a bit. Ruins my night vision whenever he's coming towards me.
