Seems a shame that this company has closed now. Does anyone know any more about this? The Pinkbike story isn't exactly clear on any reasons.

They haven't released a specific reason for failure, however Giant stopped using them for OEM kit (now use own brand/Shimano). They also had a fallout with LAMBERT (distributor to many LBS in Canada) for supplying MEC (mountain equip. Canada) with cheaper prices.

Blimey - I was eyeing up some of their kit yesterday! Got a few bits and bobs of theirs already too.

Very sad news.
I suppose they became too reliant on the OEM fitment side of the business.
I cant believe the brand will die completely though.

I wondered why my LBS was punting their chainrings when I was getting teh Stumpy repaired last year. They told me (rightly) that they were very decent quality and much cheaper than equivalent Shimano or Sram replacements. A last ditch effort to try to recoup some volume?

Poo - I may have to pick up some chain rings to extend the use I will get out of the superb cranks.
I love my race face kit, Tough, reliable and shifts really well. Last time I replaced with middleburn rings and I am not in love with them. On the phone to my LBS to get middle and top!

Oh dear, they make (made) some reasonably good quality & cheapish finishing kit too, when trying to resize my bike from a winter commuter to a proper MTB, ended up on 60mm XC stem from them and it was/is great.

My LBS says they are getting all they can get and have put some aside for me. They believe that going forward TA and Hope will make rings that will be compatible so no need to scrap cranks. The TA stuff is very good (apperently), but I will hold out for a set of hope cranks!

No - I love Raceface. I have chainset, carbon bars and BB. Also their body armour for downhill previously called Roach. Such a shame I hope a buyer is found and the name and excellent products carry on

I hope someone buys them and keeps the brand going, their products have always been some of the most stylish and dependable on the market. My Rocky Mountain Slayer has all RF finishing kit and cranks - what else can you put on a Canadian bike?

It looks like they've definately been loosing out on the OEM market as the 2011 version of my bike now only has RF cranks and the rest of finishing kit is Easton.

I can't help thinking that Shimano will want in on this. They've been trying to get into the finishing kit side of things with their PRO range but it hasn't really taken off at all. Surely buying up what's left of Race Face would give them a much stronger hold in this area, much like what SRAM have been up to with Truvativ etc.

I've only ever owned 1 thing made by Race Face and that was a 3 piece stem back in 2001. I bought it on the strength of the favourable reviews from MBR and MBUK and the excellent reputation with their premium quality cranks. It was the biggest load of junk I have ever bought (next to the current XT cranks), it was flexy and made an annoying squeak. In the end I gave it to a mate (£70 down the drain) and put on a £25 World Force stem that has been fine ever since.

Their cranks will be missed but good riddance to their stems!

Sad to hear.. I still have one of their CNC'd Turbine cranksets on my old Klein Pulse II. Square taper and with alu TNT bolts.
Ol'skool yo!
