Bike Rack, Number Plates, The Rozzers....
Discussion
Thinking of mounting a Saris Bones 3 onto an Audi A4 but my worry is that this will block the number plates and maybe some of the lights.... Is this something that i'm going to get pulled over for?
Do I have to buy a separate set of plates and lights>>
Just don't fancy the outlay for full roof mounting as may change the car before too long...
Cheers for Help!

Personally, I would buy another set of lights and a new plate.
At least then if you do change your car you can use it on the next one
But this will involve getting someone to sort out the electrics to wire it all in.... more hassle! At least then if you do change your car you can use it on the next one
Guess what i'm asking does anyone else not bother and it's all fine or do you get pulled over alot or is there another option with similar cost or longevity?
Cheers

Ive had a saris bones 3 for a year now and mounted on my focus hatchback, the bikes are high enough to mostly clear the number, althoguh depends on teh bike as some funny frames means the wheels get in the way of the plate, although it is slightly obscured by the sairs bones 'legs' on each side, ive drove past a number of police cars and had them behind too and never been pulled.Guess what i'm asking does anyone else not bother and it's all fine or do you get pulled over alot or is there another option with similar cost or longevity?

On a saloon car i imagine the bikes would be held higher up as the saris rests on the boot and not against the rear window. so bikes should be well clear.
Incidently ive just gone for thule roof munt system, as getting my lads and mates bmxs on the saris was a PITA as there is little space between the top tube and down tube, mountain bikes where easy peasy.

I have a 3 bike holder the name of Avenir, it sits on the boot and bumper of my E36 Beemer. Holds the bikes really high and seems to be designed to keep the lights and plates clear.
Only used twice and thinking of selling as I had to get roof bars for a box and it came with a couple of bike holders.
