A round trip saves me £4.70 in Tube fares, £2 in the morning and £2.70 in the evening. This morning I came in on my mountain bike, on knobblies, as the road bike is in for a service. It felt even better overtaking people than usual...

laugh

Massively slow and lethargic today. Think I need to drive in one day. Oh well, saved another fiver smile

I'm going to briefly squat in this thread as I think starting The daily "I ran to work" thread would be rather lonely, and I should start commuting by bike in 2013 (~15 miles each way).

Ran the 4.5 miles to work this morning in what felt like March/April conditions of squally showers. 33 mins with a rucksack on (haven't worked out how to fit panniers to my legs yet hehe).
clap

I drove today. I have ridden every day for the last 2 weeks, thought I should have a rest day before a week off work (and lots of cycling)

I called for reinforcements this evening. I'm not cycling home in that!

That's the way home. You probably work close to where I live...

So let's see that Mi some time then!
Not a problem. I'm in marchwood, work near the football stadium

What a pleasurable ride home. My 6 mile ride ended up being 30....

That has been my plan all summer, and today was only the second time I got to realise it.

Similar situation for me down in Southampton. It was just about wet enough on the ground to justify the car, but not as bad as I thought it would be....feel I've let myself down, my bike down, my fuel bill down and my fellow cyclists down.
southampton first thing was really bad. police were stopping people from going down certain roads!
I woke up this morning oblivious to last nights weather, bar a small puddle in the back garden. The sun was even shining at 8am. I rode in via Marchwood and there was huge swathes of water running off the fields. The puddles were up to the pedals.

I felt suitably badass. For double man points I was on my new single-speed.

Biblical rain tonight. Got 2 mins into the ride home and the heavens opened. The rain actually hurt so much I had to stop. After it stopped I continued my ride to find the main road outta Southampton blocked. Footage to follow. Despite getting soaked, I enjoyed the ride home, and I'm sure I got home hours and hours before everyone in their cars...

I'm back. Several (quite a few) kg heavier than I was, but back to riding to work! It's the first time this year I have ridden to work, and only the 4th or 5th time I have ridden my bike in 2013. I put it down to a cross between a newborn and the poor weather....I used to do so much frown

God it felt good riding in this morning smile

Exactly that! Please tell okgo that having kids DOES take away valuable riding time.

An example being tommorow, have a whole day off and it is forecast to be great. However I am looking after a 9 month old all day, 9am till 11pm.
Of course it does! You would look like a pretty selfish wker if you turned round and said "sorry, can't look after my son today, I'm going cycling"

Q1. Do you live in Hackney?
Q2. Are all your jeans unfeasibly tight?
Q3. Do you have a haircut that could be described as "ironic"?
Single speed, not fixie wink Besides, not all fixie riders meet the criteria above...
Q1. Nope
Q2. Yes, but only because I have got fat
Q3. I have a mop on my head, does that count?

Day 3 of riding to work again. Did have to wonder why I was cycling today. Legs ached like I'd done 80 odd miles.

Total since Monday (once I get home) will be 63 miles. Does this mean I can be classed as a cyclist again?
