I've picked up an old Klein Quantum Pro frameset as a new project.
The plan is to go for a respray as the current paint is fairly knackered (18-24 month waiting list eek)

The Klein paintjobs are stunning, only problem is I can't decide which one to go for.
In case you're not familiar with the schemes, here's my shortlist:

Moonrise

Gator

Coral Reef

So, which would you go for?

Have you enquires as to how much a decent paint job is going to cost?

As that will no doubt be a multi coat finishes that will need to be perfect to look good.

My local painter charges around £200 for a one colour and painted decal finish with a top quality level of finish, he re did some bits (Colour blends) on my Master and it's amazing.
There are two well-regarded specialists for Klein paint and repairs - both are in the region of £500 for strip, prep and repaint in linear fades.
Specials such as Nightstorm would be extra.

Unfortunately the paints used on the original Kleins are no longer available, so it's hard to get a close match.
They are also hard to do well, so I wouldn't trust any old paint shop to do it.

Here's a better 'Gator' pic - the one above doesn't quite do it justice in terms of brightness

IIRC the manufacturing switched in 2001-2002 and quality nosedived thereafter.
Pretty easy to tell from frame serial numbers too.
If in doubt, the RetroBike forum is a great source of info - several ex-Klein employees post on there.

Jonrock is the guy with an amazing skill for re-painting Klein's

He's the chap with the two year waiting list - huge demand as he's so good

Mmm, I had a 92 Clockwork exactly like that one.

There's another guy in Germany or Poland who paints them as well. He's got videos on YT showing how and they're impressive. Seen him speaking/arguing with Jonrock on RB a while back.
Sounds like ETOE - he's the other person who quoted for the respray.

^^ not just the paint - the frames were pretty special too. Gary Klein was way ahead of his time.
Such a shame Trek ruined it all.

Thread resurrection!

Finally got my frame back from Etoe after a 9 month wait.
Decided on Moonrise in the end. This pic doesn't really do it justice - in sunlight it's really bright
