RE: Red Victor 3 sets new record
Discussion
It was with DOT tyres Paul, albeit the slicks with 3 grooves around them.
I've seen some funny stuff on the net in the last 2 days. Corsasport is the funniest.

Apparently it can't be a record because i didn't race it in a street legal state!
You have 2 guys on there who are tyring to explain to the rest how it works, but they're having none of it. None of the people argueing against it have even considered we're racing in a class with rules that say "slick tyres, methanol and wheelie bars required"...
It's funny as f**k....
PS,if anyone from there sees this exhaust system doesn't come off for racing.
Just wheels/tyres changed and wheelie bar is added.
Anyway, thank you everyone (apart from you know who) for the fantastic support you continue to give us. We'll be at PVS this weekend giving Jonny Smith the ride of his life, if it ever stops raining of course...

nice looking car, reading through older posts on this article, quick question i don't understand is, does the record for fastest street car stand if the car is run in race trim, i.e slicks, race fuel and wheelie bars, as none of these can be used while on the road makes me wonder, the american who went 6.75 was on treaded tyres, what would this car do on treaded tyres.

My personal favourite quote from the corsa thread:
"This thread isn't nearly pedantic enough - no one's even bothered to mention that it's got as many original Vauxhall parts on it as the mug of coffee sitting next to my laptop at the moment "
Love it!
Can't someone twist some melons (as the great lord Ryder once said) over there by asking how it's different to turning up at a track day and changing to track tyres...

The car races in Pro Mod. Which means you have to run slicks, use methanol and wheelie bars.
It's a no brainer. Use them and i race, don't use them and i don't race.
The record stands whatever trim the car is in,because it's taxed tested and insured for the road wether i'm in race trim or not, and the car has driven on the road, and can be driven anytime i want to.
Like the corsasport thread,i cannot see why they're even questioning it.
The americans have been racing street legal cars this way for decades. So suddenly we break the record and it cannot be right because we raced in a class race trim??
This is the way it is. We now have the record. It's up to someone to come and take it away from us with a street legal and driven car. The nature of these records are that someone will break it eventually.
In fairnes 99% of the world is recognising this record. It seems the only ones questioning it are folk from this country? Strange indeed..
Just read some of the comments on CS and can't beleive some of the "head in the sand" opinions expressed there
It just goes to show how much a popular entertainment programme has so deeply permeated modern thinking, that comments like this are regurgitated as fact.
FFS!
Actually I’ve concluded that there’s is no hope for you Andy. You should pack-up, sell-up and quit. Oh, and whilst your about it, buy a high powered 1997 Corsa (54 bhp). Then get your ar$e into Halfords and get all those really essential parts to make your car go really fast, look better, help you pull Etc Etc

Its the same with every dedicated make car forum that attracts teenagers with bean cans on the back and neons in the footwell of 50hp of blazing madness.
The people that matter know the deal and how the records work, just a few blinkered people and one person who calls himself a drag racing fan yet has gone out of his way to question every move Andy and the team makes.
They will sit in there bedroom alone raging with jealousy where as Andy can sit back and know he has done it with an army of followers. Thats what matters.

yes that car ran in pro mod and drove on the street too....although it was 2 secs slower than Andys...pro mod generaly was a lot slower then,
Videos somewhere of Fredde & Ronnie Bergstrom with pro mods on the streets of Stockholm too, couldn't possibly comment on roadworthyness though Flying Toilet said:

Don't be silly Dan, they'll be sitting in their bedrooms holding their manhood (if they can find it) wondering what to do next...redvictor said:

Andy what you really need to do is some more videos of the Victor being used on the road. Or you could even do a video of it (obviously when it is due) passing its MOT. Should shut a lot of people up. Hell take it to a council MOT center and if they pass it then it is obviously road legal. Well done on the result. Much deserved with how much effort you and the team have put in.I've seen some funny stuff on the net in the last 2 days. Corsasport is the funniest.
