Well what a shame they didn't use a commentator that knew what he was looking at. It must have been a nightmare for the poor bloke that was given the job of commentating on footage of a sport that was so obviously unfamiliar to him. Brilliantly recorded as usual but such a shame about the commentary.

well just seen the main event coverage and was not very impressed . i could have done a better job of the commentary myself .... i did not know stig neergard was from the netherlands .. they showed the anita vs risto race twice and said it was micke vs stig and they did not show the 1st round of tmd which was by far the best class of the event by a very long way .. i hope it is not the same for the dvd .....because for the 1st time ever i may not get it

You made the point I was about to make. OK so you can just about understand a Motors TV commentator for the broadcast version, but who voices over the Season Review DVD?

Curiouser and curiouser. The racers get copies of the coverage on DVD, and their versions were voiced by John Price.

Just watched the race on Motors TV. Commentry was poor. The guy had no idea about drag racing at all!!! But what happened to the noise of the cars?...It was Not informative and Not a good representation of what drag racing is about!!! Very dissapointed. 4 /10. Ian

oh and another thing. they got to the semi final run which andy carter won ( and correct me if i am wrong but was the fastest run of the weekend ) they showed the lights go down and him go to half track .. then showed the team clapping and cheering . and anther tf run where they showed the car get to 1000ft from one camera then when it swapped to another it was back at half track.

and not to show or mention the fastest and quickest tmd run outside the usa was just stupid

i could go on and on and on but won't lets just pray the dvd has john or daryl commentating and some good quality commentary not just .. " car number 1 vs car number 15"

what a shame!
sat there for the hour picking holes in it, rather than enjoying what was for us, an amazing weekend! as said, we can only hope for better on the dvd but tv coverage is so important to teams and our sponsors. if we had exited round one and not even had the run shown on tv, lucas would not be too happy! micke works hard for his sponsors and for them to only see the car fired up then cut to another race which was shown twice is very poor!
and why the race number reference all the time? you can't see them half the time anyway!
very disappointing.

Yes, it's very poor. But worth watching all the same just for the laugh. It's like watching Borat. You know it's embarrassing to watch and listen to but you get hooked. There's a point in the program where a reporter starts asking Dave Wilson questions that I thought were poor, uninteresting questions. It was like he'd run out of sensibles questions to ask. Or was that just me demanding too much?

Dire. Borat you don't want to end, this you can't wait to end. The stupefying commentary might be due to Motors TV but the camerawork, editing, interviews and sound were just as bad. The change in format announced on Eurodragster back in May was a new direction but the change in TV production is evidently several steps backwards. It would be interesting to get topfuelgb's input on this topic.

so will be coverage on the dvd be different to what we saw on motors tv .. because in previous years .. the footage and commentary i have seen on the tv was the same as the dvd i.e john and daryl ect .. was this just a seperate commentator just for motors tv .. or is this what to expect from the usually great dvds ....

I think they should be commended really.....they managed to turn possibly the best UK event I've ever attended in to the most boring thing on TV; no mean feat!!!

maybe we should get some youtube footage of the event edited together and record our own commentaries and send that in. my dad just saw the coverage for the 1st time . at 1st found it hillarious and then was quit sad to see that, as said already before, one of the best events in a long time was spoilt so very badly
