Can any one recommend the best street legal drag radial, and where to buy.
Thanks
Can. Opener. Worms everywhere Thanks
You have a choice depending on what sizes you need and what application you wish to use them for IMHO. All are DOT Approved.
Best for mainly strip use if you have a lot of grunt is undoubtedly the M/T ET Street Radial. Next choice would be the BFG Drag Radial (old pattern) as long as you're not dishing out too much power (see Frosty )
Best for mainly street use and occasionally thuggery on the strip, the BFG Drag Radial (new pattern), the Nitto 555 (I ran a 1.5 short time on them in a fairly stock Z28) and the M&H Racemaster
Both Dunlop and Goodyear also make DOT drag radials, the Direzza GRP and Eagle SS, but I haven't tried them myself.
Different makes are available through different places in the UK
Webster Race Engineering, LA Racing Parts or Adrenaline would be a good start

Although not Drag Radials, I have used Toyo 888Rs, Street legal with the correct DOT and EU[TUV?] markings which TBH I am surprised how grippy the are, I have got 1.5sec 60fts using them with little or no warming up, they are also surprisingly good in the wet, despite not having much in the way of tread pattern, I have just ordered another set, this time in a soft compound.

So I run a mid engined rear wheel drive polo and last year ran 11.6 with B F Goodrich g force drag radials with 330 bhp. These tyres gave me me a 1.9 60 ft This year I have approx 400 bhp + a bit of nitrous . If I ran the street legal Mickey Ts would they give me a much quicker 60 ft.
Has anyone ever tried Rally tarmac slicks at the strip ?
I have cant use Mickey T's because I need a 235/45/17 and the only slick that is available that would fit my car is a Motorcycle slick.
I have thought about BFGoodridge and Nitto drag radials but a friend of mine that does rally pointed me at Silverstone rally tires like these

BTW I have a Mitsubishi Evo and my best time is 10.56

Would a 205/40r17 et street radial be to small for the wheels you have?
The big thing to remember about drag radials is they are grippy - very grippy. Before going ahead and bolting a pair on, check and double check that the rest of the car is upto the extra traction that you likely to see.
If you have any weakness in your trans or rear axle, sure as eggs is eggs, the drag radials will find and break it!!
The Rally tyres may well be sticky but its more about the sidewall construction with drag racing tyres than just how hot you can get them. A softer sidewall is going to react a lot better on the launch than a stiffer tyre which wil just spin.
If you can use the 205/40r17 tyres that Lee suggests you would be a lot better off on the drag strip (taking into account the points made above)

I will definately be ordering a pair of M/T street radials soon.
Ive been trying to find a wider pair of wheels for my TVR Chimaera but suggestions have been over my budget so far.
I may just use the old 16" Imolas that are 7.5"j.
Would the 255/50/16 squeeze on these rims ok?
