Seen a few of the new Civics on the road now. My God what an ugly car. I mean it is seriously horrible.

There is one on the plinth thing at my local Honda dealer. I don't like it at all to look at, and as the OP pointed out, it's lost some of it's USP along with the magic seats - I use mine quite a lot, so their absence is a bit of a deal breaker (except I can't get them on any other similar sized car anyway.)

I also agree that the 9th gen was a step backwards from the 8th gen design wise, and the new 10th gen is worse again. It's like the 8th gen was what the designers wanted - it was exactly like the show car, and the 9th gen had to be a bit different to freshen it up - unfortunately they couldn't make it better. I don't know what to make of the 10th gen. I honestly can't find a single thing I like about it.

I'll stick with my 8th gen until it dies, I reckon.

Saw one at Membury services today, in blue (I think Honda call it Brilliant Sporty Blue or something similarly cringeworthy).

I must say, it looked awesome. The paintwork was lovely. I really like it. Got me thinking about getting a test drive again.

I'm not sold on all the black plastic mesh trim...it's nearly all fake (i.e. there are no actual air intakes behind the "mesh") and it might look a bit untidy once it starts fading.

So far I have seen only two on the road: a red one in SE London where I live, and this blue one.

Like the latest Prius, it's a love hate design. People either think it's awesome, or can't stand it. Nobody says "meh". I like that. Kudos to Honda for going with a brave design in the full knowledge that it will be polarising. By contrast, the Golf design aroses no emotions in me whatsoever, and I can't think of a single thing to say about it, other than "yep, it looks like a Golf".

I saw a transporter full of new civics the other day, including a championship white type-r which looked awesome.

The design is an absolute dogs dinner, it looks like just a loads of angles, lines, curves and odd shapes have been all thrown into a bag, the bag has been shaken and emptied and what came out on the floor is what Honda based the look of the Civic on.

IMO - The styling definitely works for the Type R. Somebody up the road from me has a 'normal' version and I don't like it.

If all the black plastic panels were actually useful/actually was a mesh it would get a thumbs up from me.... horrible black plastic blanking panels are a no no, its not like they are small, there fecking huge and total ruin it.

From the front and side its fine, saw a red "normal one" and it looked smart... the back is horrendous though

What spec and colour did you order and how long are you having to wait?

I think they look great, they do a coupe version in the US which is very nice although I doubt Honda UK will decide to bring it here.

I've seen quite a few around the Salisbury area already.

GT spec in Sonic Grey Pearl. I originally wanted Championship White, but first deliveries in that colour are not due until November for some reason.

Mine should be available from mid-August. I ordered it on 22nd July, so only a month to wait.

I have sold my 66 plate FOCUS RS in Nitrus as the price seems to have plummeted. It would appear that there are excellant leasing deals out there which is strange as Ford said they would only import 4000 ! So I have ordered a CTR GT in Polished Metal with the extra spoiler ! I did want a white but delivery would be November. My expected date is the 27th September so ill probably pick up 1st October.

Expecting delivery in Sept. I believe dealers will get their cars this month?

I really wish they did the Type-R with an auto. I'd be all over that...

I'm mulling over the idea of a 1.5 turbo Sport Plus auto in silver. Or blue.

Seriously considering one, got a test drive booked Thursday back to back with M2, I have wanted another since selling my EK9 back in 2003, didn't enjoy any of the others.

Would go for the polished metal, GT, carbon fibre spoiler.

How was the test drive. There is a polished metal one in my local dealers . The spoiler looks bigger in real life. Fit and finish is excellent and the interior is far superior to the RS. The windscreen has more of a panoramic view coupled with the low seat makes for a great seating arrangement albeit only in showroom ! Mine is the only firm order over 2 sites and the serial number of the one I viewed was 4461.

I had a testdrive in the Civic Type R yesterday and back to backed it with an M2.

No offence to anyone that has one, but the M2 just doesn't feel like an M car. It just feels like a 1 series with a parts bin twin turbo petrol engine. I thought the steering feel for an M car was truly horrendous. The noise - always synonymous for an M car is totally missing (admittedly that could be addressed with an MPE).

I was so excited about the test drive but based on the latest releases from Bmw I'm left totally cold.

The Civic on the other hand was phenomenal. It felt 'special' and bespoke, where the M2 felt parts bin. The steering IMO was better than the M2, not a massive difference in the performance though the M2 was better at the top end, and somewhat controversially I preferred the sound of the Type R

When you inevitably then look at the financials and the Civic Is £100 a month minimum cheaper IMO its a no brainer

In fairness it wasn't a case for me that the M2 was so poor that the Civic was just better by comparison, I think the new type R is a great car in its own right.

Whilst it isn't as raw, I think its incredibly similar to the DC5. Loved it!

Placed order today, delivery October. Mineral Grey, GT.

M2 was fantastic, dealer dreadful, faster car than the Civic but the extra boot and rear leg room in the Civic and the fab Comfort setting won it over for me. The steering mentioned above on the M2 wasn't an issue for me, the CTR felt better but given plenty of time would have looked over it. The M2 is quite small and given one of the reasons for going for a car like this was due to the practicality, I chose the sensible albeit fugly car, or I would have gone for the Elise Cup 250 and sod the family! So chose the CTR leaving me with 10k to buy an older Elise too biggrin

The CTR gearbox is wonderful, the steering precise and the + mode surprisingly good on the road (used to Elise's so used to a firm set up). The car I drove had 20 miles on it so didn't drive the engine too hard so difficult to get a feel for the engine, handled really nicely for a FWD car, not a patch on the Elise but hardly comparable. Inside is good, the touch screen set ok, think it will take a little bit of time to get used to it.

Had one of these on my shortlist, had a good look around the 1.5 sport and was tempted by the idea of a hot hatch again..

In the end up couldn't face upto the shopping trolley looks with the huge rear spoiler and for a little less than the GT ended up in a XE-S with all the trimmings, which I'm loving - even though it seems to have an insatiable demand for fuel ;-) Thankyou company Allstar card..

Probably me getting older and slightly more sensible but I'm sure you owners when you get them are going to love it..
