Is it a dealer or private car you're going to look at? What spec?

I'm waiting for replies to emails to be fair. I'm on the phones alone in the office today so if I haven't heard anything I'll chase them up with phone calls tomorrow.

Me beating you to it!!! wink

Apologies for the thread hijack, but I may finally be persuading Becs to let me swap the S2000 for one of these next year (the crap summer this year has probably helped in that regard). bouncebiggrin

So I've a question - the 3.0 and the 3.2, engine-wise, don't sound that different in performance, but:-
- What are the respective gearboxes like? Is one smoother than the other? Are the 6 ratios better-spaced for the power-band, or does it just mean more cog-swapping?
- Were there any other revisions with the intro of the 3.2 (before the switch to fixed headlamps)?

Thanks guys,

Martin.

My experience of passengering in a 3.0 5 speed, versus owning my own 3.2 6 speed is that the 6 speed is definitely a bit more usable, particularly round town, thanks to a slightly lower 2nd gear. The extra ratio is very nice to have in my opinion.

Other stuff - the 3.2 has bigger brakes, again I think they're worth having as they'll take a bit more abuse.

Register on NSXCB.co.uk and ask on there. Somebody somewhere will have some knowledge of the car. It's a small world.

I've registered. Someones already been in touch with a midnight blue '96 that sounds nice, but it's over £20k. Working on the figures now smile

PS: Are you the same ferris as on there? biggrin

There is around 15-20 bhp difference between the 3.0 and 3.2 and the 3.2s have a fair bit more torque.

Different gearboxes here

W.R.T gearbox's and gearing/ratios. Expect a little bulkiness going into 2nd gear when cold, they ALL seem to do that to a varying degree. There's nothing in it in terms of smoothness, they're both superb.

Very late 3.0Ltr 5spd cars (MY'96) got the JDM ratios, which are similar to the 3.2Ltr 6 spd'ers in the lower 3 gears and eliminates the overly long 2nd and 3rd ratios of the earlier UK/Euro cars.

The 6 spd'ers the have the advantage of lower 4th and 5th ratios leaving 6th as an overdrive for cruising.

Cheers

Mark
