ignore me. I love my s2000. I'm just getting that itch you get when you see what else is out there

Don't worry pal. I'm the same, I recently started a thread on s2ki about renewing my love for the car as I was getting tired of it. Whilst I love it some days, other days I search the classifieds furiously. I don't think this is the cars fault, just more like my desire for something better and faster.

However truth be told the S2000 is great value and unless I spend 15-20k I can't think of anything worth changing to. I actually have a test drive booked for a M135i on weds (ideally I'd like something bigger) and whilst I know the BM will blow the S2000 into the weeds performance wise I know its going to fall short on most other driving aspects.

real world driving u r not wanting to drive super fast all the time..

BUT... weather conditions and when I am a bit tired it's nice to have a car that's (touchwood) predictable and takes care of business.

Another great car and sorry to side track from the s2000 (which is a great car !) and pains me to say it is the bmw m335d - but again rwd - super quick, awesome torque and good fuel economy for the performance.

I was the same - I honestly don't think there's a better sports car out there without spending serious amounts of cash. Ended up with a 650 that I'm very happy with after my S2000 - completely different, and not a car to throw into corners, but it sounds ace and goes like stink in a straight line.

You may well find the 135 is just different enough that you're not comparing them directly, which is probably the only way to move on. I tell myself I'll be back in a sports car after this, but I've already got used to a comfy and quick cruiser - I suspect the next one will be another GT now I've discovered them!

I'm thinking the same and all of the cars I have considered are more "GT". But I just know that on a late summers night I will regret not having a nippy soft top to fly about in. I wouldn't be so bothered but where I live I am surrounded in great driving roads - so it's going to happen fairly often!!

Decisions. If only a could afford a California, that would be my ideal car ATM.

my s2000 i love the car and actually its got enough tourqe we have to remember they 2.0 without a turbo so you cant expect it to have any more . people forget this and talk rubbish they are a very nippy car that becomes amazing after 5800rpm . its a piece of engineering unlike most other cars on the road. i use to have a 350z and the s2000 is a much better car although the 350z is more of a cruiser so quieter at higher speeds and nice big cabin but if you want true sports car the s2000 all the way.

All the S needs is a turbo or supercharger - or even better an LS (v8) motor swap!
I currently own a '00 S2000 type V (jdm import) and I couldn't be happier with all the extra power it has from the turbo kit.
Currently still on a relatively low boost (10psi) and running 430bhp / 390 nm.
Acceleration and sound is now even more thrilling and it feels like a proper sportscar again.
I kind of lost that feeling because all the modern cars are getting faster and faster (even TDI's)

By the way currently driving the S with turbokit for 20.000 miles, without any issues.

The s2000 is a very unique car and I find it fun to drive and easy to live with. I own a Z4M coupe which is garaged most of the year. Completely different animal. Personally not that great driving in town. Nice on the open road with oddles of torque and power but in a way not usuable without reaching stupid speeds more of a track car. The S2000 feels fast when your not driving that fast. Reckon it's the back to basics feel, low seating position, noise levels, possibly similar to an elise but with a great engine..

However I'm lucky to have both but as I said very different. Each have their strengths and weaknesses. Both with absolutely timeless designs and great engines :-)

I started this thread 2.5years ago just before buying my S2000 - I was craving S2000 talk as I could hardly sleep I was so excited!!!

Anyway after a fantastic 2years and 22,000 miles my beloved S2000 has gone up for sale this week and a brand new M135i will be on the drive next week (need something a bit more practical)

I can happily say that the S2000 is easily the best car I have owned. Its taken everything in its stride and been solid - its also cost me very little (as far as sports cars go!)

I fully recommend the S2000 to anybody, its a fantastic motor.

A different direction and a good choice I think. If you're anything like me you will miss the Honda from time to time and you'll find your driving style will change a little to adapt to the character of the new car. I no longer go charging around everywhere, for example. wink

You can always go back to something more hard core later if you find you really miss it, but some space between the Honda and the next sports car will ease the transition. As I said earlier in the thread, I'm now pretty happy with a lazy GT and will probably have another one for the next car too now I've adjusted - easy overtakes with no thought for which gear I'm in help here! wink

Enjoy the new one!

Exactly! It's priced well as quite frankly I don't want to be paying insurance etc on both cars come next week. Plus I'd feel like I was cheating on the S2000 if I had another lady on the drive aswell!!

Would've bought that off you (no, snapped your hand off for it) 3 weeks ago if I didn't buy mine 3 weeks ago! Lovely.

These things aren't half fun / dangerous / exciting / lethal in the wet yikes

Does everyone else struggle to keep up with normal traffic as soon as the road is even slightly damp?!

I'm running Toyo T1R's and 'fast road' geo with polybushes throughout.

They should be fine in the wet as long as you're smooth around the bends. Never had any issues (touch wood)

I'd question the person that did your "fast road" geo if you're having problems like that... T1R's have a terribly soft sidewall also which isnt ideal for the S2000.

It's been alright in mine today, felt the back start to slip only once when pulling away and turning 90 degrees with a little bit too much throttle. No correction required though.

Incidentally, I heard a clicking noise, is that the LSD?
