Why do I want an EP3 Type R!?

If your talking figures (EK9):
Have you ever wondered how fast the Honda Civic Type-R is in a straightline ? In the May 1998 issue of UK's Performance Car, a true JDM Honda Civic Type-R was tested in a special hot-hatches feature. The figures attained will send shivers down any of our competitor's spines.
A listing of some of the critical standing acceleration numbers are as follow:
Distance Time
0-60mph : 5.7 seconds
0-100mph: 17.5 seconds
0-1/4mi 15.0 seconds at 94mph
This just demonstrates that 0-60 is an inaccurate way of measuring acceleration. Have you ever wondered how fast the Honda Civic Type-R is in a straightline ? My car's 0-60mph will be mid 6's, maybe 6.4sec at a push.
0-1/4mi however is a different matter, as i've pulled 14.6, 14.7 and even a 14.5 once with a 97mph terminal.
That's why i hate 0-60mph tests as a measurement of power, because the 60-100mph could be pretty lame in comparison to other cars.
I'm not saying that the EK9 is a bad car, because i like them, but a 300bhp Focus RS will have the same 0-60 time as the EK9 above, but the Focus would destroy an EK9 at a dragstrip by about a second, even though the 0-60 times would suggest that they are equally matched.

I've always felt that 30-130 is a better indication of a car's true power as you are not reliant on getting traction off the line, and it's also kinder to the transmission.
100% agree. it removes the 4wd traction element and focuses more on power/weight and decent ratios. Rolling starts for the win. Edited by itsnotarace on Thursday 24th February 16:39

This is very true my Focus is somewhere over 300bhp (made 307 on rollers last time but now runs quite a bit more due to boost upgrade) & is pretty useless off the line but the 30-130 is very good.Edited by itsnotarace on Thursday 24th February 16:39
The 0-60 times of the Hondas can be very good, a lot of the jdm versions have lsd's from the factory & they also have very good front suspension set ups which help. The fact that the engines produce their power higher up the rev range aslo helps when getting off the line.
Looking for abit of advice and this may not be the best thread for it but im sure someone here can help.
someone put gear ratios and speeds on the thread earlier, but does this account for the larger wheel/tyre on the FN2? im considering throwing the EP3 final drive ratio into my FN2 as its supercharged (running around 370bhp) and would like a little bit more in each gear but then given the FN2 has bigger circumference tyres is this then again having an impact on the overall gearing vs the ep3 and so I would get abit more MPH in each gear than the ep3 would get?
Hope it makes sense! Thanks
