Very few instructors are as unhinged as Roy, they want evidence that you can drive a lap without endangering life or limb before getting in your passenger seat. That means you need to do a 'follow the leader' type lap with a walkie talkie that you can't hear, before they consider giving you more active tuition.
I find that utterly bizarre. They would rather you try and concentrate on driving AND use an unfamiliar walkie talkie instead of sitting next to you and actually offering instant advice. ???Jacko22 said:
Can we book tuition on the day next week? (11th) as looking at booking an hour to share with the mrs...
Jacko, from this info in the Booking confirmation email, I suggest you contact Circuit Days now. Otherwise I suspect you`ll arrive and find all the instructor slots are full.Booking Email said:
Tuition is charged as follows: £40 for a 20 minute session, £100 for an hour, £200 for a half day, £400 for a full day. Please contact us should you wish to book and have not done so already.
This time next week we`ll be driving Wh00sher said:

In all fairness you don't have to use the walkie talkie, you're just supposed to listen. You and I might enjoy jumping in to complete strangers cars as the try to impress (and very often do), but this is fun time for us, whereas it's their livelihood for them.
If they, or rather their completely unknown trainee, gets it wrong then their health and income is at stake. So I do not resent their caution at all.
I've been hitching rides with strangers at the Ring for ten years, I always learn something, and very rarely wish I'd given a particular car a miss.
However, I don't hitch rides on the back of bikes at the Ring because that is mad - and that's from someone who jumps out of planes for fun.
Quite a lot of unseen work has been done over the last 4 weeks and I`m excited to see how it changes the handling at the Nurburgring trackday next Tuesday.
Before that I`ve been invited to attend the Coventry Moto Fest / Pop Bang Colour "Built not Bought - Performance show on Saturday where the Pinderwagen will be on display
The only cosmetic changes since the last outing are some additional vents to the airdam which feed a second set of ducts blowing into the centre of the rotor
There was evidence the outer scoop wasn`t catching enough air from this water trail after Rockingham
To address that I`ve also added a second scoop to sit in that airflow and direct it into the brakes.
Just need to load it onto the trailer tomorrow ready for Coventry on Saturday as everything else is finished and it`s ready to go

Can't wait for this now, 3 sleeps until we set off over...
Likewise. Car is in with Ford today having the FPM375 Mountune kit fitted, and all that's left to do then is a fresh set of pads ready to leave Sunday! Making a trip of it and going via Bruges Sunday evening.Weather looks like it should hold too fingers crossed! And track temp should be decent after the hot weather at the weekend.... Can't wait!

Blimey, that`s a bit last minute ! Hope the installation goes well and we`ll see you on track
Guys, regarding instruction. Years gone by we have had two instructors on hand. Generally Andy and myself, but this year we have been innundated with bookings for instruction. The start of this week we had five instructors booked to be available, we then had to increase that to six.
We are going to be very busy, so if you have booked for instruction please please turn up at your allocated time and we will endeavour to be with you asap. As often happens we do get some people not turn up or breakdown. Any problems being able to take your slot please let Kim know on the desk, just maybe we could squeeze a reserve into that slot so may be worth asking at start of the day if you want help but have missed the boat.

KW v3s fitted...
Motul fresh brake fluid in...
18s and sticky rubber on...
...just hope the gasket between steering wheel and seat holds out
...it's what I call a working man's ring chariot. Nothing too fancy, it won't bankrupt me if I do stack it, but such a nice chassis, glorious engine and a c. 8 min lap lurks within her, the only question is how much of its potential I can extract!

Comfort spec suspension, Mintex finest road pads and sticky tyres in the boot:
Bought last year as an MOT failure for a trip to Spa. It's a bit of a boat but surprisingly effective.
Probably be back on ebay after this trip.
