I am on the mailing list of Eugene O'Brien, the crazy-bonkers ex BTCC driver. In his email from last night something caught my eye..

[i]As mentioned above, as part of the set up for this year, we are looking to rationalise and revitalise the existing fleet of Mazda MX5's. As a result of this we have the following for sale:
MK1 MX5 race car. Only 1 race meeting since engine rebuild and skimmed heads. £4500 for quick sale.
3 x Track Day MX5s Mk1 (1.6) , all with race springs/dampers. Each with half-cage roll hoop and race harnesses. All in good mechanical running order. Currently SORNed. Priced at £800 each for quick sale.

No idea, although I only got the email on Tuesday night.I got some instruction from EO'B years ago and when my car developed a puncture we transferred to his MX-5, it drifted beautifully through Craner Curves, even with me driving! The car that I drove may or may not be one of the ones for sale, but I do think that 800 for a trackday-prepped car seems pretty good, although they are SORN'd so will need tax and possibly an MoT.
Anyway I've rambled on enough and I don't want this to seem like a proxy ad for any of the cars!
