Is anybody else going to be there? I'll be dragging the Rallye kicking and screaming around the track for the 1st time with my mate in his 911. Come say hello if you are going to be there too.

Luckily mine was rear-ended 18 days after I passed my test. It didn't kill it, but it was closer to a hatchback than a saloon after that. Then another 10 days later some plank ran a red light and finished the job. I didn't have much luck in my first month of driving

Both drivers saw a 17 year old newbie and decided to claim it was my fault. Apparently I reversed into the first one while I was waiting at a junction!? Somehow that didn't wash in court And the other guy insisted the light was green for 18 months before finally 'fessing up the week before the hearing -

With the whole legal process taking forever I (understandably) couldn't get insurance for less than 5 figures so I tasted the pleasure of driving for 28 days and was then denied for almost two years before I could sample it again. That's probably what pushed me over the edge into petrolheadedness.

But Christ, what a bloody hideous car!

To be honest I think it was more fun in the wet in many ways. Definately made me start cautiously and slowly ramp up the speed. Also meant I was much more attentive to the car's feedback and learnt loads.

I was having a nose around the car in the afternoon. I was trying to get out on track at the same time to get some sort of comparison, but didn't manage it.

Tell me more about the car. It certainly looked the part!

The car was built by Cadena who are the official Lotus team for the british GT's this year and the EuropeanGT's from next year. It was only my second outing in the car on Tuesday and I'm just starting to get a feel for her. The car was comfortably quicker than anything out in the afternoon - and that was even with me piloting her. The grip generated is astounding and I'm still gettting used to how much speed you can carry through the corners, plus the different driving dynamics of a mid-engined vehicle.

I missed the last hour or so as I lost transmission on the car - not sure what the culprit is yet but means it is likely I'll be missing the big exige day up at Donington this weekend.

The car weighs about 650kgs wet and runs a heavily modified K-series engine (just a little 1.8 )

Sorry mate, I've not got any pics of your car. I might have some video, but to be honest you won't be in it very long as you left me behind at a rate of knots!!
