TRACKDAYS CAN GO WRONG with VIDEO

This was not my first Trackday and still doing them in my Scoob
but when you get cocky and start to throw the car around your abilty is not as good as you thought

This was Japfest2004 at Castle Coombe in my Subaru a little bit of Driver error on my Part but at least I do my learning on the track.
The car was drove the 70 miles home faultlessly
The tyrewall did its Job well causing mainly cosmetic damage. My mates wife, who was passenger was totally unhurt and has been out with me since
BTW it cost the Insurance about £10k to put right good job had protected NCB

I agree is abnormal, as most Right handed Circuits i've driven, Oulton, Siverstone, Donington and Brands are overtaking on the Left so faster Car retains the racing line.
I think Bedford Autodrome is the only left handed Circuit i've been on and that annoyingly is left hand ovetaking. IMHO would be better on the right.

Drove at castle coombe last weekend, that puzzled me no end the over take on the right, I think they think it makes it safer as it mimics the road, but as a trackday regular and fresh returned from the 'ring' it seemed altogether wrong.

Yep quite thick skinned as said above overtaking on the RIGHT only and certainly wasn't looking for any sympathy.

I have used eaggar lawson Cometitive Car Insurance depending on amount covered and excess about £150-200 a day. You'd need to cover about 50% value of your Car as cover is limited.
My road insurance Liverpool Victoria it covers me on the track as long as it's not a timed advent. I have fully Protected NCB with £500 excess.

It is because the pit lane enters the track from the left hand side (and in the middle of the straight

If its on the straight, should drivers be going that far over to the pit lane exit, there is a line that trys to seperate traffic, its not that big an issue, to warrant overtaking on the right imho.

The line at Combe is to be on the left hand side of the circuit at the point of the pit lane entry - the last thing that is needed is one car overtaking on the left at that point at the same time another is exiting the pits. And if you can't remember which side to overtake on when driving a track day, you're not concentrating hard enough.

Combe has overtaking on the Right as it is the same as on the road, and most people who use the track are novices so it makes sense not to confuse them even more!!
Did you get a warning after that sesion, If not it was only probably because they felt sorry for your car!!
You should have floored it when it got bad, would have pulled you out of that no problem.

No I didn't but they said they wouldn't let me out for my last session because of the damage.

The UK Scoob 4WD in the Crash had fixed centre diff giving approx 60%Front and 40% Rear IIRC my last 2 Scoobs have had DCCD.
It was floored

I have done some Driver Training with Andy Walsh @ 1stlotus and a few driver training days @ Prodrive since and replicated the same incident but saved it.
So the moral is get Trained first it much cheaper

Knockhill is the same, pit entry from the left onto the line at probably the fastest part of the circuit. Not (usually) still overtaking there though as it's close to the braking zone.
I regularly have cars let out in front of me there, usually happens 2 or 3 times per trackday. You then have to decide if you can brake enough or just stuff it up the inside of him into Duffus...and argue with the pitlane marshall later.
