Hi

I recently purchased a "key fob spy cam" from ebay for use on trackdays.

The camera was around £10 and the memory card it uses was £11.

Good vid mate thumbup

These wee cameras look like an absolute bargain. Any chance you could post a link to the seller you got yours from?

How long did it take to arrive? Doing my first trackday next weekend, rekon i could get one in time?

Hi,

I purchased from here:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Key-Chain-DVR-Recorder-Spy-V...

The seller is in Hong Kong, delivery took around 10 days which meant I missed having the camera for a bike track day by one dayfrown

Its a good little peice of kit. There are other very similar cameras on ebay but they have different working inside. I read a few reviews and reckon this type is the best.

I am told the battery lasts for 2 hours. An 8 gig micro sd card will record for 2 hours with the camera, so thats also what I went for. I was advised to get a class 6 micro sd by a tech geek.

Very much OT - but how have you reduced the noise levels on the R1 to get through the track day noise test, have you fitted an air box. I am just running a pipercross air filter with the standard MNR race exhaust and back box, I have also lined the engine bay with acoustic foam but am still up around the 105db mark

There are two buttons and an LED. When a recording is started, the LED flashes 3 times.

We have a pipercross 600 series airbox fitted to the engine and the race exhaust from MNR.

Check that your exhaust is not leaking from the rivets at each end of the can. Our exhaust is now due for a repack- we had to make last minute repairs for Oulton, consisting of wire wool, exhaust paste and new rivets!. We were coming in at 103db but this has risen to 105db latley.

Thanks, I have been thinking about buying the Pipercross 600 airbox and now think that I will get one

Another quick one...

How did you mount it?

In terms of the memory card, I simply searched on eBay for 'class 6 8gb micro SD card' - I'll let everyone know how it works in a saloon car in a fortnight.

Hi

I purchased this memory card
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

The battery in the camera is rechargable, you get an adapter or a cable with the camera that allows you to download your footage and charge the battery.

I mounted the camera to my roll cage using a tie wrap and graffer tape. This way of mounting may be frowned upon by trackday marshalls.
I have heard of other people glueing magnets to the camera body which allows you to stick it to the car body!
Sticky velco strips also work.

picture quality is great, sound not so good, is there any option to link in a mic or is it just using an inbuilt one? is it just wind affecting it in its location?
cheers

There is only an internal mic.

I forgot to tape it up to stop the wind noisefurious

Thats a bargain for £21! thumbup

Think I might have to invest. Thanks for sharing.

Shame we can't tell what the sound quality is like due to all the wind buffeting (but for that money do I really care?)

And purchased.. I might put mine in a small plastic box, and then zip tie it too the front bumper.. Or mill a little cradle it can sit in and then extend some wires into the car to stop start the recording.

That would work.

I bought a couple of them last week. Still waiting for them to be delivered and as they are coming in from Hong Kong and with the flights being grounded I expect it may be delivered in a few months... biggrin
