Morning all

In about a month I am about to hit the track for the first time (Bruntingthorpe)...Is it worth getting track day insurance ? If so - can any of you recommend a good company - who aren't liable to screw me around with get-out clauses and the like should the worst happen ?

Cheers

Steve

CCI.

Depends on what sort of day at Bruntingthorpe though.
If its not many cars on track together (ie a VMAX or Training type day) then I wouldn't be overly concerned with insurance.

There will be around 20-25 cars on the track in my session, but most are PSOOC club members or friends of club members so i doubt i will have to worry about any wannabe track hero's/warriors.... lol

Not sure there's much to hit at Brunty if there are so few others in your session.

Try MORIS (www.moris.co.uk) if you're worried about incidents - they also offer relatively cheap cover for being towed home if required.

I’m sure the guy that rolled his focus at Donington today was glad he took out insurance!

I used www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk cost £200 for £25k of cover. What price piece of mind ?

Thats what i was thinking - the car isnt worth that much, but for the sake of £50 it would be stupid not to have something. I'd feel like a right tool if i did stack it or someone run into me. Might as well leave it in the cat litter and walk home.

A Cerbera got destroyed at Bedford yesterday and then there was a fair bit of damage to a VX220 and an RX8 after a coming together.

MORIS are the track insurance arm of Everitt Boles, they are very good.

For piece of mind, I've paid my money. Any Damage would be a bummer....but to have to pay to repair as well .

I have CREAM & a Brands Trackday coming up, so the risk is rising all the time!!

Just done an online quote form with them.
Be interesting to see how much they charge!

I've just got a quote from Morris for the Cerbera day tomorrow, £125 for the day.

I'm undecided, from peoples previous experience, is that about the right price ?

Has anyone claimed off them ?

Keith

how much excess did they ask for if you had to claim? when we did brands trackday I got a quote for about £125, with £2000 excess, could you really do that much damage?

We didn't do it for cream either, but if we carry on doing loads of trackdays I might look into getting an insurance that will cover for lots, not just the day, if one exists, cause I'm sure our luck will run out one day

I had a quote from Moris too. £250 for a day for my Ultima! Excess of £3,000.

By the time I have paid for the track day as well, it looks like it will be an expensive day out!

but, it wouldn't take much damage to go beyond £3,000 in repairs.

What would be a disaster, if it caught alight. Having seen pics of a Ferrari replica which burnt out at a track day, (no insurance) it has me worried!

See this from the Noble forum. Total repair bill £12,000

Interesting thread - am considering a track day this year, which my insurance (A Manning ) currently covers adequately for TVRCC days. However, the renewal premium is £400 more than a recent quote I have from another insurer who does NOT offer track days, but the policy the same in every other way. So....

(i) are you able to buy track day cover by the day if needed and if so, generally how much does it cost?
(ii) are there any recommendations out there for other insurers who cover Track days as well - either TVR Car Club days or even more types?

Thanks in advance.

I believe A Manning now also covers non TVRCC trackdays so long as they're ADRS or some other acronym certified (official companies running the days or something).

this is absolutely spot on, took out insurance on the cerb at weekend with Mannings and not only were they very competitive on price but the trackday cover was there i think there is an extra £800's of excess but its peanuts compared to the potential loss without insurance
