Remember, it's a 5 part interview that will feel more like an interrogation! wink

Parts 1 - 4 are essentially all about you ie; Who are you/where are you from/schooling and education/favourite and worst subjects/proudest and least proud moments of your life/postions of responsibility and so on.

Part 5. Your job, and the wider Navy.
Basic Training - Where and How Long?
Specialist Training - Where and How Long?
Types of ship you can expect to serve on?
Naval Bases (not many left wink)
How Long is your contract?
Fitness regime at the moment?
How will you cope with seperation from family?
Financial responsibility.

Those lists are only an idea of what you may be asked, but they should help.

Remember to turn up in a suit and in good time, phone the office if you are likely to be late, it is always appreciated.

And good luck! thumbup
Thanks. I only have GCSE's, so hopefully that won't go against me. However I don't need other qualifications for the role I'm trying out for. I've been revising the RN like a bugger for weeks!

Remember, most jobs in the RN don't require any formal quals, yours included. Even the engineering trades don't require them, just the ability to score well at the RT and to do well in training. smile
Half way there then! I can't thank you enough for your advice, on and off PH same to everyone else who has helped. Cheers guys smile

Mondays the big day... do you know if I find out the outcome on the day? Obviously I won't get a date but I wondered if I got told if I'm progressing to the next stage or not.. Thanks.

Well I had the interview today and they are taking me to the next stage. As long as I pass the security check and the 4 day course at HMS Collingwood then I'm good to go!

Good on yer mate. Take your time with the Security Check to make sure it's done properly. It'll take around 3 months to go through, thanks to the marvellous efficiency of the Defence Vetting Agency wink
Thanks, did it all tonight. Man that was a lot of questions! Now just a waiting game I guess.

Found out yesterday it was returned clear biggrin They told me they are now waiting for a place to be allocated. I'm hoping it's within 12 months..

Good luck, it might seem daunting at first going away for so long, but stick with it! It's like no other job, you'll have some amazing times!
Thanks, I fully intend to stick with it, are you currently serving?

OK mate. If your security check has gone through, you are now eligible to be allocated a place. It's that simple!

Just a waiting game now, the hard stuff is done (as far as the application is concerned wink)

Well done smile
I've sent you a PM mate smile

Someone who did their RT 6 months before me has said he has been told he is top of the list and the next planned intake for CIS is May 2013... here's hoping, That sounds about right on the waiting time I have been told, although as I said, he's got 6 months on me.

Oops, didn't notice that... CIS. I think waiting times must be the same or similar, because everything the AFCO tell me ties in with what's been said here.

Disregard what I said about entry dates then-they are only applicable to CTs and not the CIS specialisation.
No worries, I think they must be similar, a guy on the Facebook group has been told May is the next CIS course.

Cheers! Well CIS waiting times are 24-30 months still apparently, which would put me at mid next year ish so we will see. I've heard about Collingwood, I'm there 4 months. The real fun will start after that I'm sure!

Someone who uses the same AFCO and did their RT 5 months before me for CIS has got a date of October 2013, I hope I get the same.
