So you were warned once & did it again on another public forum & now talking about it on here!

yikes I do hope that your boss isn't a member on here, otherwise it could be more than a suspension!

As peviously said, what did you expect to be honest?

Hence the reason I have changed my user name.

The explosion in social media over the past 4 or 5 years has allowed people to race on and indulge in this global chatter without really considering exactly what they are saying, who they are saying it to and who else might end up reading what has been said.

During WW2 there was a famous campaign which said "Careless Talk Costs Lives".

Although modern idle internet chatting is not normally life threatening, perhaps a new campaign should be started saying "Careless Talk Costs Careers".

Just a (light hearted) chat to be honest. I am happy to accept a bking, just don't want to be unemployed.
The problem is that it wasn't a light hearted chat, it was a written communication, available for inspection by almost anyone who wanted to see it.

I understand the anguish you must feel right now but there is little you can do about it now other than go into full grovel mode and, this time, learn from your mistakes if they are prepared to give you a third chance.
By light hearted chat, I was refering to the conversation with the Director, not the original post.

Given how reasonable they were last time, I can't see them accepting a second kick in the teeth.

I don't think you've really grasped the concept of social media

yes but your attitude is still "I want to moan. Its my 'uman rights, innit..."

At this moment in time, you are lucky to have a job, Have you ever tried to change the role in a positive way? To work with the management to make a more effective, better company (and make yourself more useful as a result)??

Or just moan, moan, moan. Managers are sick of paying someones wages when they dont do anything but the bare minimum and moan about it.

Was not looking to moan to be honest, I am really just looking for advise. I realise that things are difficult at the moment, hence the reason for wanting to turn this around if at all possible.

Grovel
Apologise
Grovel more
Do not under any circumstances try to justify your actions (even if you feel you want to or should do)

It's like the attitude test if you get pulled over by the police. It might not help if they have already made up their minds but it could make a difference. Then learn how to use Twitter, Facebook and whatever the next one is before jeopardising your job and save the complaining for when you're down the pub with your mates.

What I don't quite get is your original comment is still available on twitter. You could at least remove it.

Ok.. Take on board what everyone above has said, what I will say in my defence is, I intended to send the message as a direct message on twitter, was replying to a question from a (former) colleague. Did not intend the message to be in the public domain, am still quite new to Twitter, so if I am guilty of anything, it's user error.
No, you're guilty of bad mouthing your company. You only seem to regret the fact that you were caught.

I think that 'they' have probably already made their mind up on any action that is going to be taken.

Don't try and say you are a novice twitter user as it doesn't hold much weight. Just be very apologetic.

If the worst does happen then just chalk it down to experience and move on. It looks like you weren't that happy there anyway so use this as an opportunity to move onwards and upwards.

Good luck,

BB
