Firstly thanks to Garlick (Paul) for allowing us to post this. Pistonheads cares enough to see their members in full time employment !!
(Also a post in the Computing section to catch someone with the port forwarding skills).
We may well have your perfect job going spare. No - not casting director for big boobies and wobbly bits.Com but a close second !
Assuming you're a bit of a computer nerd and you love cars - well you are on Pistonheads
how about filling this most unusual of slots for us. We have 2 sides to our business, 911virgin where we sell previously enjoyed Porsches and cctv42 where we sell CCTV.
We want a car valeter with an eye for detail bordering on obsessional but who can also port forward. The car valteing is pretty self explanatory, nice shiny Porsches don't clean themselves. The port forwarding is a service we offer to our CCTV customers in order that they can view their CCTV systems over the internet. We set up port forwarding on their routers using a screen sharing session.
As a young business CCTV42 couldn't justify another full time person but we do sometimes get very busy and we also allow current staff to go on holiday - I know what would uncle Ebineezer have to say. 911virgin is pretty much foot to the boards all the time so another valeter would come in very handy to prepare new arrivals up to the standards we set ourselves and keep on top of stock cars in readiness for viewings.
So what are we like to work for? Well first of all we are a small company. We achieve a turnover of £6-7 million with 7 full time staff on site. Everyone is treated equally, this isn't a situation where you will be joining at the bottom and treated like something the cat brought in. There is no one in our team who doesn't have a direct influence on our success. Being small there is a lot of overlap in terms of what people do day to day. You may find that as CCTV42 continues to grow you end up spending more time on that side of things, or you may end up spending more time working on the cars. Who knows?
We are based just outside Uxbridge in a nice rural location and hopefully it's a pleasant working environment. Our day starts at 9.00am and we shut shop at 6.30pm. There is some scope for flexibility within those times in terms or arrival and departure. 911virgin is open on Saturdays until 3.00pm although you may not be needed for Saturday work. It depends on your exact role.
There is customer interaction so a good telephone manner helps. If you are valeting then this isn't as critical as when port forwarding but it's useful to be able to hand over a phone when we get busy.
A full driving licence would be helpful and whilst we understand the odd camera flash happens we wouldn't want to see anything too graphic on there. We sell extremely powerful cars and expect them to be driven as though your testicles were being held captive in the office pending safe return of said motor car. (We would / do employ people of the female variety as well so don't worry if you haven't got testicles we would still like to hear from you if you think you've got what it takes smile ). We are a very diverse bunch which probably makes us what used to be called an equal opportunities employer.
Money. It's highly unlikely you're going to work for nothing - but don't be afraid to ask, I'm a reasonable man. There is potential for quite a wide range in applicants on this one so at this stage let's worry about getting the right person first. I hope we are very fair in terms of pay levels. Once people join us they tend to stick around.
So there you have it. If you are the best valeter on the planet but don't have the port forwarding skills then still give us a call. The port forwarding ability would be the icing on the cake for us. Similarly if you can do the port forwarding standing on your head but have only ever valeted your own car or friend's cars then call us.
