I accepted a Project Engineer position with this company back in February this year based on the verbal promise during the interview that I will be moved to Project Manager after 6 months together with a 'significant' salary increase and sponsorship of a MBA. After 6 months, they guy who hired me left the company and the new boss is not very interested in me. They do sponsor my MBA only because i chased them. I.ve just been told that i'm not getting any pay increase and I need to stay in the PE position to get more training. To note that the job was a big industry change and I only accepted the PE position as a training role for me to learn the business, well plus the big promise for more money in 6 months time. As HR were present, they should back me up on the promise, but where do I really stand?!
Without a fuller picture of your history, circumstances and future prospects it's really difficult to advise from afar. Only you can balance up the situation dependent upon a host of contributing factors. If not moving in to a PM position at the 6-month point is a deal breaker for you then begin negotiations and drive the deal. The assumption is that you are highly employable elsewhere and it will be the organisation that loses out not you.
If however you think that even without the move to a PM role, your current package is good, then maybe biting your tongue, at least until you've completed your MBA (which provider?), may be the sensible option, particularly in the current economic climate. Good luck!

Not in my contract, its even worse when the guy actually left the company. Only HR knows about it. What i'm worried about now is that im steering to much st making it actually worse for myself..
If the guy's left the company, perhaps you can get in touch with him and get it in writing from him what was promised. He's unlikely to care about the company anymore Gassing Station | Jobs & Employment Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
