And another thing. Not only is it a superb drive but it scatters the oppositon - sorry I mean other road users (you know the one's who daren't put their cars on their profilewink) - on mini roundabouts, outside lane of motorway etc in a MOST satisfactory manner. Like minnows evading a pike they were this morning!
Internet Inadequacy. I'd get that properly seen to and diagnosed if I were you. Get out of way little man syndrome others call it. Whichever way it represents itself, many people find it a repulsive trait in human being.

If BMW driver's feel stigmatised - look right here.

As you were.
Thing is - I DON'T CARE what they think as long as they get out of the way. Saves all this 'is it your right of way or mine' rubbish. After ME thankyou very much.
nah u cant beat a knackered looking white van for this purpose. and they are cheaper

i dont suppose they drive as nicely though biggrin
A decent van is indeed much better for making 'progress'. People EXPECT st driving from vans, and you can get away with some fairly hideous driving without anyone even peeping their horn for your mentalist actions.

Generally though, I'd like to know what engine is going in this... a new turbo V8 for the upcoming new M5 (maybe), or the old V10?

Either way, if you want the blingest X6 going aren't you going to look cheap in an M model when Aplina or Hartge will likely make something much more expensive and equally quick?
M models should be for people who want a sports car, and an X6 just isn't sports biased at all.
What next, an M 7 series? An M diesel 1 series maybe?

The M-tech bodykits are so ubiquitous now, that the next thing to do to sell cars on a badge is to just make everything an actual M model hehe

Mat. You seem to be saying 'if they make the car I want then that's OK' but anything else isn't.

May I also refer you to this peach of a quote? "Feel like a change for the New Year and fancy taking advantage of the crashing prices for premium brand, big engined 'JUICERS'. Stuff the cost of fuel" Now who's profile do you think I lifted that from?wink
I'm suggesting that the car they plan to make (IMO of coursewink ) is not what an M car should be. They'll make what they think they can sell, and my disappointment is that what will sell is not what I believe an M car should be. The market for a stripped 1200kg, 300bhp, 1series coupe (in white with mobil 1 stickers and Sytner in the rear side windows?) is not gonna generate revenue like a 2 tonne bruiser .... That's life.

The car I propose to buy in my profile will convert the "juice" to forward motion smile Sadly the M Z4 coupe is a little out of budget, but hoping that the 3.0 car might not be. Fingers crossed.

There before you mate - read my comments under the topic 'Thoughts on my M3 test drive' which is currently two or three topics below this one. If you're keen what's stopping you buying a white 135iMsport Coupe, gutting it and shoving a cage in - plus the decals if you must. My g/f has the Cab version and I've raved about it a number of times on here. Go and do it rather than moan about (superb) cars you have no interest in. smile

I like to think you can still comment on something you've not experienced. For instance I know I'm not gay without having to 'test the water' so to speak.

My opinion is that I think the car looks rubbish in pictures, appears pointless in concept, by all accounts drives amazingly and in the flesh looks bloody awesome! I don't think I could bring my self to buy one though.

  • edit: I know, my car history doesn't back up the not gay comment... but you know what I'm getting at?!!???!

Had a go in one. Liked it a lot. Budget (and avoiding mortgage matching depreciation) rule out new purchases for me, however naturally take an interest in what I'm likely to be hunting for in 5 years time.

Stripped with a cage and pair of Recaro buckets? Now your just teasing cloud9 ... I'd save the BTCC retro decals for LeManswink

I thought it had ALWAYS stood for 'lets attach our racing monika to a road car and flog a few more units'? And were ALL early Mcars REALLY that good?

In nearly all walks of life, efficiency is the key. This car isn't that. Ditch it.
Can we have an M1?
Great arguement, because the M1 will be terriffic on fuel, no doubt.

Nice one chap, have a biscuit.
Efficient performance. Making the most of the energy it possesses. Generating that energy would use a lot of fuel, but that energy would result in supercar performance in an M1. instead of bludgeoning 2.5 tonnes of fake tan along the road to a 155 limiter.

An M1 with the same powerplant as this monster will get would be three point something to 60, and run past 200mph if they let it. It would be BMW's Gallardo alternative.
  • sigh*
stick the kids and the luggage in the back of the M1 would you, and the skis on the roof-rack, we're off to the alps.

..not a very efficient way to transport all that clobber up a snowy mountain road now, is it.

If you're going to pick random arguements it could go on all day.

In fact, based on the arguement, why do we bother with having big cars at all? Surely the most efficient way of doing things, by the numbers-generated-from-engine-capability, surely a veyron engine in an elise would be the way forward?

yeah thought not.

It all depends on the priorities you want from the car!!!
Yes, so again if you want a big powerful car with lots of room that drives well buy an M5, RS6!

If you want a big car for wafting along in with a high view point buy a Range Rover/X5/Q7 etc.

If you feel the need to a massive (external dimentioned) 4x4 which cant go off road, doesnt have the same towing capacity as a Range Rover, has less space and one less seat than the equivalent 4x4, handles well (for a 2+ tonne SUV) and cost more than the equivalent X5 and look like an idiot with to much money and an Inferiority complex im sure this would be perfect!

Actually it costs a tad LESS than the equivalent X5 - I know because I'm chopping my X5 in for one. I don't need the fifth seat, it handles very well for a large saloon and utterly superbly for an SUV - which you'd know if you'd driven one. As regards you abilty to judge an individuals character and worth by what he drives that's obviously crap as on other days you may see me in my Caterham, ClioV6 battered old Defender or whatever else happens to be in my ownership at the time. Thanks for the insult though - nice.

Oh, better qualify above by saying I'm going for diesel version.

you can say you know you're not gay because it doesn't appeal to you but what you can't say is being gay is rubbish if you've not experienced being gay - there is a distinct difference which makes you analogy worthless in this instance

The Americans are leaving their SUVs in their droves. Can anyone see the X6(M) (?)'s target market dwindling rather quickly? I've heard tales from the oil crisis of the '70s where you couldn't give away an E-Type or a Jensen and for years that was a very difficult scenario for me to comprehend but I don't invisage fuel getting any cheaper (year-on-year*)

It seems strange that BMW crow about their Hydrogen 7 (which isn't a goer) and how green that is (supposedly) but then do this.

  • For those pedants who were just about to flag the recent 3p drop. Whoop!

Saw my forst X6 today on the M60. Jeez, that`s one bloody ugly car! Couldn`t tell what sort of driver was in it as all windows were blacked out, so can only asume it was either an overpaid poncy footballer or the local smack dealer. Don`t really matter though cause it don`t change the fact that it`s one ugly mutha!
