I've removed my muffler delete from my E60 M5 as my car is now up for sale and this will be sold soon, feel free to message if someone wants it? I haven't had any power issues with it, and IMO fitting the OEM back on the car feels a tiny bit slower than it did with the muffler delete
Mods - feel free to remove if you wish,a classifed ad will be put up for it on here
Not another one selling!!! Mods - feel free to remove if you wish,a classifed ad will be put up for it on here

Seems like warranty prices are gone up too
£1513 (1400) annually
£138 (128) a month
0 Excess / FComp with Emergency service (without service in brackets)
I did this on bmw-warranty website on a M6 under 40k on the clock, the car didnt have any warranty so this would of been new coverSeems like warranty prices are gone up too

Just had the exhaust silencers deleted and wow! It sounds like it should have done from the factory imo, ie a proper supercar sound. On full WOT in each gear it is loud but sounds like a F1 car. I took out a few mates and they were buzzing by the end of the drive. It also helped I had the car sideways too lol
I cannot tire of this car and for £200 this mod is a must.
ADY: Nice motor mate, I bet that Eisenmann sounds the business!!!

Hi guys
Just an update after 12 months of ownership if anyone is interested
Fuel - lots - happy I can convert Shell points to Avios (air miles)! Averaging 15 -16 mpg.
Tyres - rears lasted 10,000 miles from new with "average" driving I would say. £300 per corner for rear Michelins
Service - brake fluid, Microfilers , MoT so far so negligible cost.
Tax - best part of £500. Glad that has gone towards repairing the UK roads though :-)
Enjoyment - still high although I do wonder what the hell I would ever replace this with!
Driving - using D2 for normal driving, flicking to S5 for pressing on. Once you get used to the amount of throttle control you need to use for all scenarios the gearbox is fine. Needs patience when compared to other gearboxes I believe. Suspension on soft all the time now due to potholes etc. Still maintain the conventional rev counter is better than the HUD one, however I have never used the normal speedo (always the HUD one).
Couple of questions (forgive me if these have been done to death previously) :
1) Is there any way to get DVD / TV displayed? (Mine does have DAB if that is relevant)
2) iPod connectivity - currently via the 3.5mm jack in the rear of the centre console.... iPod in armrest therefore no remote control or charging of iPod when in use. Would be nice to use idrive to select songs etc.
3) SatNav DVD is the original - any idea what the best value for money way of upgrading is?
Cheers
JB

Fair play to you, I'm amazed you can drive it in any D mode, I find it holds onto the revs way too long. M is the best mode for sure. 1) Is there any way to get DVD / TV displayed? (Mine does have DAB if that is relevant)

1) Do you have the TV tuner? If not then it won't work. At the time these were sold it would have been analogue anyway and as analogue has been turned off now you won't get any signal unless yours has a Digitial DVB-T receiver installed. The DVD slot for the sat nav is ROM only and as such does not display any picture on the idrive display so no movies unfortunately.
2) The Aux jack is useful for kids DVD input or iphone but mine has the proper BMW ipod connector in the glove box so I don't have that issue. Some of the later cars had a USB slot in the centre console so check yours as that is a useful way of playing music through the idrive interface.
3) If you go to the Dealers they will charge full whack for the latest DVD-ROM maps. There are alternative methods out there so have a google for latest BMW maps!

D2 works for me as I am old / drive like Ms Daisy when in built up areas etc, but you are right - needs patience (nice to chill after coming off M-Drive mode :-) )
1) No TV Tuner as far as I'm aware. So no TV or DVD for me then I guess :-(
2) No USB slot in centre console - I understand the genuine BMW ipod dock is pretty costly , has anyone tried / tested an alternative please?
3) Any idea how much a BMW DVD-ROM map would cost, and has anyone tried & tested alternatives?
Many thanks
JB

It may be possible to retrofit, but might be costly. My 2005 E60 M5 had the TV function and was digital DVB from the factory, so I assumed they all were.JLBMatic said:

I installed in mine the Dension Gateway 500S BT. It allowed me to connect an iPod/iPhone up to the dock connector in the glovebox and browse the tracks on it via the iDrive CDC interface, very handy. The BT version also allows streaming of audio from an iPhone to the car (and can skip tracks with the steering controls etc.) but this had the side effect of intercepting phone calls away from the normal Bluetooth in the car which mucked things up, so if I did it again I'd get the non-Bluetooth Dension Gateway. I currently have one that I'm thinking of selling, I was going to put it into my current E65 7 series but I'm about to sell that car, so it'll be needing a good home too.JLBMatic said:

I was quoted around £180 from a main stealer, which is silly money for a bloody DVD, so I ended up buying a third-party jobbie off eBay and it worked perfectly fine. Not entirely sure how legal they are, though.I've started thinking about getting back into E60 M5 ownership, despite getting screwed financially on the last one. I think if I went for a new one it would have to be a later car, preferably with a recently replaced clutch, with the monthly warranty on it so I can continue that. Red or blue, and if the silencers had been deleted too that would be great. I miss that sound, even though I didn't have the silencers removed on mine, I still miss it - I want mental-loud!
Am I crazy for wanting to jump back in the fold? Would an E39 be a better idea?
Here's mine going under a bridge, the iphone recording doesn't really do it justice but it gives and idea of the sound.

Do you mean me Contigo, I have the Eisenmann system fitted, and yes it does sound awesome, at least that's what they tell me ..ADY: Nice motor mate, I bet that Eisenmann sounds the business!!!
My Warranty cost with 91k's would be with £250 excess;
Comprehensive £2353 - Named Componant £1936 - Driveline £1399 - Emergency service £148
Do you think it is worth taking out ?
