BMW M2 delivery date
Discussion
Had the most surreal experience last Wednesday evening. As we were going to be away for the launch last weekend and having been made aware that there would be a M2 in the showroom of a nearby dealer (where I already had a deposit), my wife suggested that we pop along after work to have a look.
We attended the showroom to find a gleaming LBB M2 in pride of place. Whilst we were admiring it a salesman struck up a conversation. I asked if it was possible to have a sit inside. It was explained to us that the vehicle had been brought into the showroom only moments earlier and was awaiting a cover pending the launch on Saturday.
Further conversation revealed to him that I had a deposit placed, whereupon the keys were promptly summoned and we were given the opportunity to have a thorough inspection of the car.
We were joined by other members of staff who also wanted to get a look at it. During conversation with the business manager we were informed that BMW had unusually given them the opportunity to retail the launch car.
The salesman I had placed my deposit with previously then joined us and I was handed the keys and invited to start her up.
My appetite was duly whetted and frustration begun to take over, being 7th on the list with anticipated delivery optimistically estimated at Mar '17.
I queried the specification and commented that it was virtually identical to that which I had configured earlier, save for the exclusion of lumbar adjustment but with the addition of comfort access.
To which his response was "Would you like that one?"
Unsure as to whether my ears were deceiving me or whether my leg was being pulled, I asked him to clarify his statement.
He informed me that the car had to remain in the showroom until the end of April, but following that It was free to be retailed and I was given the option of it!
Moments later my trade-in was being appraised and I was informed he would contact me Thursday morning with some figures, which if agreeable would be followed by a contract.
This was duly complied with and we are to collect the car on the 30th.
We have both been in a state of shock and disbelief since!
Needless to say we are thrilled and cannot believe our luck!

This is an awesome story! Now, if I were Pistonheads I would be calling you and see if a photo / video opportunity was available, on collection. A real cool readers' car story on what seems an exceptional car. We attended the showroom to find a gleaming LBB M2 in pride of place. Whilst we were admiring it a salesman struck up a conversation. All the very best for 30 April.
This wasn't vines Redhill or Williams Manchester was it? They have both had a LBB car. Great news for you but very annoying to those who were ahead in the queue and it wasn't offered to them first. I am first in the queue at my dealer but being told September. I got very excited when they sent me a video of the one in the showroom as thought it was mine, but it had a DCT box anyway.

No, it's a dealer in the North. With regard to other's in the queue, I know as of several months ago that at least two were at confirmed build slot stage. Perhaps this particular vehicle's spec. was nowhere near the other orders placed? The salesman did mention that he was expecting those with deposits to have been enquiring about when there would be a vehicle to view, but none or few had been in touch at that stage! In contrast he did state that they have reached saturation point with initial enqs. regarding the M2. I have been a regular visitor to the dealer since placing my deposit and this vehicle appears to be in addition to their planned orders. Perhaps I was just in the right place at the right time and who would turn down such an opportunity?Smuler said:

Hi Alpinestars
Why are you selling so soon? and when are you looking to sell?
Thanks
Nick
Soon. I managed to get an allocation which I will spec in sept and in the meantime was asked if I wanted a showroom car (unregistered etc) for delivery on the first day of release and on the spur of the moment took it. Why are you selling so soon? and when are you looking to sell?
Thanks
Nick
I don't want 2 cars so it'll be up for sale.

My mineral grey one arrives next week. Don't think I've looked forward to getting a car this much in ages. So many people have said why don't i sell but why give up the chance of driving it. Saying that if I could make 10 grand then that makes me the stupid one! :0)
