IMHO you have to think of the image
Z4M = Middle Aged Man, still quite sporty, wears a baseball cap.
Z3M = Prodigal Son, smoking a Marlboro red, doesn't give a fu*k.
PMSL! God knows where you got those stereotypes from!?Z4M = Middle Aged Man, still quite sporty, wears a baseball cap.

Assuming the decision hasn't been made yet here's my 2p worth.
I've just been through the same conundrum and finally plumped for the Z4MC. Having owned a Z3MR I'd always said I would own a coupe. The Z3MC is a genuine classic IMO and on the track I imagine it would be as good, if not better than the 4; there are also some very well cared for 3's out there with dealer mileage, but for me, for real world road use the 4 wins. It does, as it should, feel every bit of the 6 or so years of development (hence Z4 and not new Z3) but still with priceless character and I never really got confortable with the Z3 driving position.
Also worth considering, there are rumblings that dealers are no longer taking new car orders. This should curb the depreciation and help it inherit some of the exclusivity of the origninal MCoupe.
Both great cars and a nice decision to be stuck with.
Edit: Just noticed this thread has been resurrected from late last year! Oh well hope this helps anyone with the same thoughts.. Taxi!

A bit of an old topic to bring up from the dead just to make a flippant comment. Very unproductive.
and most of the bullst on here is productive??Whatever you say i guess.
Something you have graciously added to in a very ineloquent fashion.
The forum thanks you.
But anyway, put it behind us and back on topic.
Neil
I should bloody well hope it's better given aside from the engine it's a generation away from the Z3MC.
For a number of reasons I still prefer the original though.
Still, you're saying 'a better buy' in which case as a day to day proposition I'm sure you get more overall performance pound for pound, as Z3m's are a stack of money now.
