Z4MC and M3 E92 fuel consumption
Discussion
There is a difference between the two. I had a E90 M3 for just under a year and the best I ever got was 27MPG but that was when I was trying to get good MPG (60 mile trip mainly on motorways). Around town you are looking at anywhere between 14-18MPG and early to mid 20s on the motorway. The Z4MC is slightly better, I avg 32MPG on the motorway and mid twenties around town.

How light is your foot? The most I have seen out of a full tank is 320 miles in my E92 and that was on a run through Europe. I have averaged 20.1mpg over 14k in 9 months. If your having a lot of fun then under 200 miles per tank is realistic Fidgits said:

I can get 34MPG out of my Z4M with the cruise control set to 75mph.
I cannot imagine a 414bhp V8 in a car weighing about 400kg more could get the same...
so the Z4M weights about 1160kgs dry then does it! Max i got out of my Z4M was 24 and i get 20.6 from the M3, 3.4mpgs is neither here nor thre over 10kI can get 34MPG out of my Z4M with the cruise control set to 75mph.

Check again, the unladen EU weight is 1655kgs which has an allowance for luggage, driver and fuel, actual dry weight is around 1560kgs, the old Z4M was over 1400kgs so nowhwere near the difference originally quoted
my maths were "approximate" - i.e. i thought the Z4M was about 1400, the M3 1800 - as it was, i wasnt that far out, and if you want to argue specifics, fine, but the raw basis of my post (i.e. bigger, heavier car with larger capacity engine is less economical)
that answers the question - for you, 4MPG might be neither here nor there, but it might be for the OP.
