just been speaking to someone in the trade and they have said the Z4 M coupes are not selling and he has had 2 sat on his forecourt for nearly 8 months not good.

He also said he has just brought 2 Z4 M roadsters with 8k miles on the clock for 18k each!!!
I suggest your mate is talking out of his rear!

No dealer would keep a car for 8 months and they are fetching loads more than that, if he is a main dealer then he probaly got those packaged up with a couple of 7 series which owe mega money, so when all the cars are adjusted they will owe him the correct figure.

Or he has just purchased two Cat D sters hehe
This came from a dealer principle so why would he talk out of his rear.

There just not shifting and as someone who brougt one from new over 2 years ago am not happy the way the prices have gone and will probaly never buy a new bmw again.

I repeat I'm collecting a top spec 07 car today for £27250, so a low spec car for 25K isn't a one off.

I've been offered a least 8 cars with sat nav for around 28K,mostly 07 plate and some newer with less than 10K on the clock, supply isn't low, more cars are coming to dealers all the time. These are main dealers too.
So? Your car is an 07, this is a full year younger for significantly less. If it were an 07 we were talking about i'd see your point, but this is a 2008 car.

It's an povy spec 57 plate and mines a 07 plate with all the toys

So youself tongue out

And i stand by what i say why would i talk down the price of the car that i have and am trying to sell.....

I got offered £20k for mine 2 - 3 months ago its an 06 with all the toys and 10k miles i politely declined.

Its the way bmw M cars are going as you can even pick up a low milage e92 M3 for under £40k now at main dealers so what did they pay for them my guess is about £35k which is shocking on a car that lists at £53k so closer to £60k by the time you spec it up.

thats nearly 50% depriciation in 6 months already finance companys are only giving RV of £19000 on a new M3 over 3 years making them a very bad move to by new which in turn makes bmw sell them cheap to shift them, dropping the risiduals even more exactly what they did with the Z4 M hence the cr*p prices they are selling at.

Dont get me wrong they are one hell of a car i wouldnt have brought one otherwise.

Yes I have noticed the cheapest ones are with the bright Red leather interior. There are 2 shades of red leather for this car, and the bright one seems to be a bit harder to sell.

Ive just received a letter from Rybrook in Shrewsbury saying.

Dear Mr .....

Firstly, please accept my apolgies for this unannounced correspondance.
Much has been made of the present climate and its effect on consumer spending of late. The news is full of stories relating to a slowdown across the board and a lack of confidence in customers commiting to change their preent car. For most manufacturers this has most certainly been the case, but not at Rybrook BMW Shrewsbury. As a business we have found our sales levels are higher than this time last year - our customers understand and trust the reliability and integrity of the BMW brand and therefore, growth has continued.

Now, onto the reason we are sending you this letter. The prices for our vehicles forecourt are at their lowest for a very long time which means that there has never been a better time to change your car.

Blah blah blah........ then it goes.

We wanted to let you know that actually , now is the time to update your vehicle and if you haven't done so - take full advantage of the fantastic prices and offers that are now available.

@@cking ace , they have loads of bargains ! There is just one small problem that they've missed and thats the bit that i already own a BMW and they seem to only want to offer me £23000 for a vehicle that listed at £46000 13 months ago and thats for a car thats still in demand (335D).

You used to be able to extend your BMW warranty ad infinitum at modest cost, thus running an older BMW was low risk.

Now the warranties are much more expensive, go up at certain mileage breaks and are not obtainable at all after 100k miles.

That is what he means.

So you want cheaper new cars and strong residuals?

Welcome to the real world, todays discount is tomorrows depreciation......

And I bet you a pound to a penny that you paid nowhere near £46K for your car.......

I was just trying to state that the market is crap to part exchange even though there seems to be some great bargains around!

And from what you seem to be saying, i shoundn't buy a new BMW again even if i can negotiate a good discount.

What do you do for a living again ?

I must thank you for your speedy response (18 months to reply must be a record?) I actually purchased an S4 avant in January last year and sold it again in the February.

I have to be honest and say it was the worst car I have ever owned!!

The amount of understeer was bordering on dangerous and the gear ratios made it a complete chore to drive.

After 13 Audis in 10 years I made the move to BMW and will not be coming back.

Hope that helps??

Guy
I have had calls from 4 different dealers this week, BMW Newport, Cooper Norwich, Royles in Wilmslow and now Stanstead Audi, never been called or contacted by anyone before, the dealer principle is obviously making them do some work.

2008/57 Plate, Fairly basic spec, but good colour. Mileage on Application. You would have thought such a young car would have low miles, but maybe reason its cheap is because is has big miles.

Anyway, if anyone is thinking of one of these at the moment, Id say you wont find better value than this.
Now three cars on the AUC site under £25K.
