CSL V Z3 M Coupe

has anyone had the pleasure of owning both, or driving both on a track? - How do they compare?

I'd imagine despite the Mcoupe being very fast, the csl would trounce it on a track. the mcoupe has e30 suspension doesnt it.

There's been a discussion over this at z3mcoupe.com.
A few people have been on track with CSLs.
The general concensus was that a CSL would walk all over a Z3MC with standard suspension, however once upgraded, it becomes a lot closer.

Hey lads, I have driven a CSL, fabulous car.

I owned an M Coupe for two years, had it around the ring' more times than I had hot dinners. On OE suspension, H&R, and KW. The latter was stunning. On 18" LM's the car used to wipe almost everything, CSL's, GT3's etc... It lacked BHP on the back straight but otherwise was amazing. Dont under estimate these just because technology is a bit old! A few minor mods can make these very desireable. Rare too, which is nice..

I have a modded M Coupe,

it has KW variant3 and other suspension mods and I can confirm it punches FAR FAR above its weight.

THe standard M Coupe is very sloppy but it can be made to handle better than the CSL with the right suspension/wheels and tyes.

I have been thinking about moving to a CSL as its such a nice allround package but I would change the brakes and posssibly the suspension, when I have driven it on a track I have found I can set my MC up better to suit the day/conditions.

I have also done 69k in my M coupe and fancy a nice new low mileage car but I also think the Mcoupe has the exclusive/unusual looks which people love or loathe (I personally love)

If you do not like tinkering and spending big £££ on a car then go for the CSL, its an amazing car.

mine can be found on the cover of Total BMW this month where they tested it at Bedford.
