Squeaky throwout bearing (clutch release bearing)
Discussion
Hello all,
I've got a 1992 Eunos 1.6 and I've been noticing that there is a constant squeaking noise which is present when the clutch is in, and it worsens on acceleration. It disappears when the clutch is dipped. I've looked on Mazda forums and people say that this is the clutch release bearing.
I got the clutch changed (at Mr Clutch) and asked, specifically, for them to change the release bearing, which they said they did, but it's made no difference.
It drives absolutely fine, but the noise irritates. Anyone have any suggestions, or have had the same problem?

The clutch release arm tends to vibrate against the slave cylinder pushrod and that creates a similar noise - the usual fix is a dab of grease on the end of the slave cylinder pushrod.
I tried to tell them that, but they pretty much ignored me.... is it easy to perform this repair, for a complete novice, and if not (as I suspect) is there anyone who you know who could do it?
